Soundcloud audio examples of the different pickup settings - I have it connected up as follows: Position 1: Middle pickup Position 2: Neck+Middle Position 3: Neck pickup Position 4: Neck+Bridge Position 5: Bridge pickup Recorded flat through an Apogee Duet into Logic Pro. No EQ or compression. 2.
here are pictures of the pickups, one dates clearly to 64, while the other one is black. i just read that the older ones (pre 64) were black. but i guess somebody on here knows better than me anyways...!?
i think it was common practice to mix black and grey pups so I don't think this is cause for concern
 3.
the bass was stripped when i got it and it had leftovers of red and black in the neck pocket. even then you you couldn't see any stamps anymore. i would never offer something which i wasn't 100% confident its original.
with 100% confidence I can say this bass is not original. Sorry
 4. Great looking bass, just wish I was into warwicks. GLWS
 5. Chris just bought a fender precision from me Smooth transaction and good communications. FWIW. Delivered faultlessly by Parcelforce with tracking.
 6.
How can it be?
. Exactly
 7. His bass player using a Gibson gold top here http://youtu.be/I-s8_uuXxI0
 8. G&l! Very under rated and oft over looked basses Your mods sound interesting. Not all g&l' are active, the l1000 and sb1 and sb2's are passive but have very powerful pickups.
 9.
Stunning bass. I own one just like it. It's a bit better than just a p bass and jazz neck, having the j pickup definitely provides some more tone options. Getting slightly harder to find I've noticed.
yes agreed
 10.
The copies all come and go and are fashionable for a while but Fender remains as the standard pro instrument.
exactly
 11. Fender precision special, passive version, precision body, precision and jazz pups with controls to use either or both and jazz neck
 12. Sold a squier vista musicmaster bass to Paul Great bloke and straight forward transaction Thanks again
 13.
Go see a professional audiologist and get a hearing test in a sound proof booth with properly calibrated equipment. I would recommend the expense of custom moulded plugs, I have some ACS ER26 which is the strongest removable filter, and normal conversation is quite possible when wearing them, they really do reduce the incoming volume enormously while retaining clarity and are much more comfortable to wear than generic foam or silicon mushroom plugs.
this is the way to go This is what I did several years ago - I played in one of essex's loudest cover bands, two guitarists using Mesa boogie dual recitifier rigs and a the loudest drummer ever using cracked cymbals. You get used to the subdued sound. As you get old you realise that it's all about preserving your assets and that includes your personal health and your body Ironically my wife has tinnitus but I do not despite 8 years with the afore mentioned band Preserve your hearing and avoid tinnitus
 14. Post Gabriel Genesis even the cd after Collins left. Never thought I would say it but it really is quite good
 15.
We did this at the Herts Bass Bash a couple of years ago. many different Precisions, including a 57, 65 (or 66), 72, 78, current US, current Mex etc. The runaway winner, voted by everyone based on sound alone, as they couldn`t see the basses, was the Mex Mark Hoppus Sig Precision. the next on the list was the current Mex version. the 57 & 65/66 were about 7th & 8th.
thanks for that lozz, as I thought, so why buy mojoed, beat up, over priced pre-cbs précisions? No I realise that's a sweeping generalisation but I do wonders So in that Herts test, were the blind testers prevented from feeling the bass they were playing? As the hoppus only has one knob it would be easy to identify which then might prejudice the testers judgement
 16.
You can see that bit where I say I agree with you can't you? Maybe you're contributing while blind-folded. :-)
surely you buy a bass mainly for what it sounds like?
 17.
Maruszczyk do something similar for about £650...
michael I thought you were a fender man?
 18.
Obviously, but I'm assuming that you will be removing the blindfold at some point before getting in your car and driving home. I am agreeing that no-one would guess the era from the sound alone but, even then, people would tend to buy the more desirable variant. No-one actually tries a bass to buy it while blindfolded.
i am not talking about selling basses, I am talking about getting people's opinions on what is the "best" precision they try out without seeing is out of a sample of members précisions that cover the whole gamit of era and price My own opinion is that it will show the myth that is mojo
 19.
I don't think any of us would have any doubts as to the result of such a test. In reality, we consume with our eyes too and would naturally be drawn to the more expensive version if offred a choice.
blind, as in blind-folded
