Lovely collection! Please can you give us the lowdown on all the years and colour names please ? I love 'em
the pink and green ones are 1974 and 1975 and are both refinishes, the others are all late 70's p's - the red, white and capri are international colours
Is it the original finish? Have any of them been refinished?
yes original finish
Love the natural one on the end! Do you have a favourite?
gotta be the capri - I had the cars - two of them - too
What's the year of the black one on the far left, that is absolutely stunning and similar to mine
late 70's - the paintwork has gone that mottled colour on the sides like a lot of the black ones did - is yours the same?
Nice bass. I think it maybe one of the "Foto-Flame" basses. It's not real flammed wood but a "photo" of flammed wood, stuck to the body and painted, then lacquered over. http://www.xhefrigui....com/page7.html
yes its a fotoflame - gorgeous
I have a Squier JV 1983 Precision, a 1974 Precision which has been restored and a 2001 Corona era Precision recently purchased from this forum. All three cost under £600 each - having spent vast amounts of cash over the years on vintage Fenders I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Corona era USA Precision - it really is fantastic value for money with a great growls core sound and a superb neck. My '74 will always be my favourite as I have invested a lot of TLC in bringing it back to life and it just feels so comfy to play. If you can't find a Corona under £700 or you are on a limited budget and fancy something with vintage kudos and can't afford a JV era try a SQ era Squier - again superb Japanese instruments. Good luck!
good advice - there is a hell of a lot of (very expensive inducing) mojo in old fenders - I have heard very good things about current fenders - in the mix you will not be able to tell the difference between a mojoed £6000 pre-cbs precision and a recent £500 precision - betya
For the money , an early American Vintage series 57 or 62 are the best bet before going into Custom Shop territory.
+1
I know there have been various 'Jaco Pastorius' Jazz Basses issued by Fender over the years i.e. Tribute, Artist, Custom Shop. It all seems a bit confusing so can anyone list them in chronological order or where on the net they are listed in their year of issue?
try google
