The pre amp has been changed, non original knobs, drilled body for jack socket.

String tree is in the wrong place (should be G&D not A&D) logo I'm not sure about and if that's a chamfered body it's not a pre body either , colour is also not a pre EB colour. Needs more info explaining all the above before anyone gets involved in my opinion

No factory contoured pre EB basses were made, so either way at best it's an transition era not a pre EB as the listing states. Take out the wrong body, EQ and scratch plate and at best it's a pre EB neck. Even as someone often accused of bigging pre EB prices up I'd be reluctant to pay £2k for a neck
pete great to see you posting again but you naughty boy, you must not comment on prices from your comments it is now clear to me that the value in this bass is all to do with jeff berlin's signature -
I'm pulling this from ebay as I may have an interested party from the States and I'd rather go for a guaranteed price rather than run the risk of a 'possible' good price on ebay.
shame about that i was gonna have a punt for future reference, your ebay end date (10amish 2muro) was not a good choice as many people at work or if not working maybe not awake - best finish time is sunday pm/evening - maximise your chance of a "good price" cheers
I traded my Stingray (2EQ Rosewood) for a P ('78 Maple) ten years ago and have no regrets. The MM was superior in terms of build quality and had superb playability, but the tone was just not right for me. As soon as I played the P I knew I preferred it to the 'Ray. The P is heavier and there are gaps in the neck pocket, but it just felt and sounded right for me. I'd say that MMs are as popular as a bass can be. If it's not a P or a J.
i like it
Yes, both arrangements are used, so not definitive from Sadowsky unless he's only talking about his own basses. My Takamine B10 has side dots between the lines and I used to have a Jazz with them on the lines. To me, on the lines makes much more sense but some prefer the other way and anyway, as has been pointed out several times already, it's a cheaper manufacturing process to use the same neck as would be used for a fretted instrument.
Yes roger is just refering to his basses Hey good to talk again
I had a Fender Jazz lined fretless with dots at the lines and not between them.

Um, I'm with Dave Gareth, I think Roger must be talking about Sadowsky's, as despite my rant in the first post, there's loads of fretless basses that have dots on the lines (or where the lines would be). My Ric certainly has, and my recemtly departed Takamine B-10 is the same, as was the case with both my maple fretless Precisions (both 70's originals)
i think the point is that either way of positioning the dots is ok and is used by bass makers I had wrongly assumed that cos a bass had front and side board markers in the same position as a fretted neck, then this must infer that is has been de-fretted rather than being that way from new here are another thread covering this topic:- http://fretlessbass.com/viewtopic.php?p=784&sid=5d1023ab801c837cd2897c0654b5b5c7 and here is warmoth giving the buyer a choice- http://www.warmoth.com/bass/necks/Fretless_lined.aspx

definitive answer from roger sadowsky himself:- i emailed: roger thanks i just did not think lined fretlesses would have dot position markers on the board and side dot markers not in line with the lines but before the note as on a fretted board cheers gareth he replied:- Dots on a lined fretless are always the same as a fretted neck. Roger so "hear this" to the basschatter that said my lined fretless ray had been de-fretted and was not original factory spec!
