1. Up and running now. Great new layout. Many thanks to all involved
 2.
Anyway, back to the subject, looks like it's '73 then.
Does that mean in 10 years time "vintage" will be 83 or 73 then?
 3. Lozz bought my precision. Nice bloke and straight forward deal - enjoy the bass
 4.
Maybe someone's still pissed about Pearl Harbour
Indeed

 6.
thanks I saw that - it's been on there a while though, which got me thinking in the first place if it was too high
Perhaps But remember G&L are not as popular as say fenders. That does not necessarily mean the price is too high, merely that you have to wait for the the limited G&L fans to take an interest.
 7. Andy Baxter has one similar to yours for £750 He is a dealer but his prices i think are pretty fair Here you go:- http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=168
 8.
Once you've handled one you can spot an early 80's '57 fullerton reissue a mile off. It's body countouring is unlike any other fender (including the original '57).
+1
 9. Bought a bass from Jason. real quick transaction, met half-way, nice bloke
 10. Just bought Dave's Guild B301 to renew an old acquaintance. Top bloke bass arrived in good condition and was very well packed. Highly recommended
 11.
Withdrawn, no serious interest.
They are rare things and not properly understood but having had both fullerton and the later non-fullerton reissues i can vouch for the facts that the fullerton reissues tend to be lighter, more resonant and more carefully contoured. They deserve their reputation but are notoriosuly difficult to identfy/verify - the serial number is an indication but cannot be fully relied on and neither can the pot dates as later non-fullerton reissues will often have fullerton period pots, and you really need to see neck and body dates and markings, ascertain whether there is a router hump, etc Thats not to say that there are not good examples of non-fullerton reissues - i have a 62 reissue which is light and resonant. Confusing eh?
 12. Back for sale here:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G-L-L1000-electr...=item2313cbe6e0 But be warned this is not what it seems, here is a link (kindly provided by a fellow basschater) which will prove interesting reading to potential purchasers:- http://www.bassesbyleo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=213
 13.
Wowwie. I know we went supposed to comment on price but this may well do better in Europe do to the pound being weak against the Euro, and where generally the Market is a bit stronger.
No i think that it is a reasonable price even in the UK for a 78 ray - about £1750?
 14.
I was reading some posts on a basschat topic today about a Trace rig on ebay and how great they sounded back in the day. Different strokes for different folks I suppose but I've never got on with TE stuff. I can never get (in my opinion) a good sound from the things. When I was getting serious about bass, in the 90's, these were the holy grail of bass amplification but I never got on with them. In the past whenever I turned up at a gig where the backline was TE or a rehearsal studio (where all old TE gear goes to die) and one of these greeted me I knew I'd be spending most of the first hour trying to get a halfway decent sound. Thank goodness for lightweight bass heads because now if the bass amp is a Trace I can just plug my TC head into the cab and get a decent sound right away. Does anybody else have a dislike of TE stuff or am I just a weirdo?
Here's a big mans rig for you:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRACE-ELLIOT-V-T...=item3f0d6c5a10
 15. also the knobs are replacements and i do not think they used the rubber/plastic gasket beneath the neckplate bank then
 16.
Well I love it - if I had a spare £800, well I probably wouldn`t have it anymore! That to me is exactly how I like a Precision - battered beyond belief. I`d do it to mine, but I like genuine wear, not fake, and think that this one has just been badly treated over many years. I`d def give it a home.
Yes I do not think its a bad bass - all looks genuine The guard has been replaced which makes you wonder if anything else has - such as pups, pots, wiring - of course guard and neck off would be really helpful
 17. "I am only selling it because it sounds great" Sounds like a reason for keeping it
 18. Really nice Like you say a lot of do ra me Always confuses me but if the finish is original and not a re-finish, should there not be a paint stick area in the neck cavity?
 19. Just a bit of an update and a second opinion. I don't know whether this is the same bass that WOT had but I took possession of one these yesterday from our own Legion/Jas, which has also been sometime owned by Clarky. I have had a couple of mid/late 70's fender fretless precisions. This one compares very favourably, being a nice weight at 8 3/4 lbs and with an ebony board, de-tuner, jazz pup and useful strat-type slider switch controlling the pups. Highly recommended
 20.
.. and nice to meet you both at Bass Merchant yesterday to witness the transaction!! Ended up with a Ray34 myself!!! Neil
they look like really nice basses from what i saw the bass merchant shop has a great collection of quality basses - my first visit
 21. Its a personal thing - i can't stand ampeg's but maybe I just have not experienced a good ampeg rig yet I use TE stuff I don't particularly like the the tranny heads, but I use an all valve TE V6 and thats the dogs Maybe you should try out an all valve TE rig before making final judgement?
 22. LEFTY White guard original EBMM for stingray 5 Excellent condition £35 posted to UK address
 23.
Gone to Gareth, so its staying in the "family"
Great bass - thanks very much Jas
