I can guarantee that it is completely legit though, as I disassembled it and did a thorough check when I bought it. I'm pretty sure neck date is 6/83 but will confirm later. Do you think you've spotted something amiss?
No I do not think anything is amiss, just handy to have these details if they are available
  2. hi can you tell us what the serial number is please also have you got any photos of the bass with the neck and guard off showing the markings in the neck and control and pup cavities, also photos of the neck butt, pots, pups?

thanks for that the neck date shows 18th February 1983 and the name of of H Gastelum both of which support this as being a fullerton reissue good luck with the sale

    SOLD

could you let us know the serial number - by all means blank out the last 2 digits for security reasons and before you did the refinish (or are there still) were there any dates or markings in the neck cavity, neck or in control and pup cavities? thanks
When you place something for sale through the ebay auction medium you are by definition entering into a contract with the buyer as per ebay's T&C. Failure to complete the sale is breaking that contract (which by the act of signing up to ebay you have agreed to); it is then a contract as per any contract that you either agree to in writing or verbally and there is a civil case for the breaking of that contract.
You are absolutely right BUT if the seller refuses to sell, enforcement of the contract will be costly in terms of legal expenses or illegal if you attempt some other forms of enforcement such as the ones to which have been suggested

  8.
Hey guys. Ordering a Warmoth body, I was wondering do standard Fender P-J basses just put the J pickup in the standard position or in the 70's reposition? Cheers! Rob.
Depends on the model My MIM p deluxe has it in the 60's position if that helps
  9. I can confirm that this is a great bass in a stunning colour Good luck with the sale Joe
  10.
I won a no reserve (non-Warwick bass) on ebay from a guy who lived about 5 miles away; the bass sold ridiculously cheap and unsurprisingly the seller point blank refused to answer any of my emails or ebay messages, I even paid via paypal and that was refunded. I went through the ebay process to get his home number and called him, he was a bit surprised to say the least and basically said that he wasn't selling that cheap so I could go take a jump... 30 minutes later I turned up on his doorstep! He ranted a bit and told me to 'go forth and multiply' but I resolutely stood my ground and explained that he had entered into a contract and that was a contract that I intended completing. He went inside and closed the door and just as I was on the verge of giving up knocking on his door (approx 15 minutes), the Police turned up. The seller came out and started shouting and gloating at me, right up until I'd quietly reasoned with the two officers and presented my paperwork from ebay (yes sad I know but I had printed it off just incase the guy denied any knowledge), at which point the officers told the seller to sort this out as it was not a criminal matter (civil) and that I was within my rights to be there paying for the item that I had purchased. The police duly left and the guy slammed the door! The end of the story is a bit of an anti-climax as he still didn't open his door or sell me the bass but he was removed from ebay (seems my purchase wasn't the only one he pulled out of). I could have started a civil court case but it really wasn't worth the hassle. I did however get my own back on him but that is another story.
So as I said if a seller does not want to sell, he won't - nothing you can do
  11.
If it were me that was the winning bidder, I'd have his address off ebay and be knocking on his door tomorrow morning.
If he does'nt want to sell he won't sell I had this with a G&L bass, I won it and paid paypal but the seller just refused to sell it to me and refunded my paypal

  14.
If the pots are original it's not earlier than 1980.
That all makes sense - late 70's p basses with these type of serial numbers could have been made between late 70's and early 80's Like you say the pots indicate the bass was assembled in 1980

  17.
+1 Go for the colour you like best. I did the exact same thing with my 78p recently; it was originally white but stripped when I bought it - I researched colours available at the time and ended up painting it Capri Orange! No regrets. I'm a big fan of Sonic blue, especially with the covers on
Ahhhhhhh - I LOVE Capri Orange
  18. I agree with the above comments When you have them refisnished, get the guy to preserve any original markings on the bass in the neck pocket (particularly any paint sticks, etc), pup and control cavities by NOT spraying over these areas - get him to put masking tape over these areas - just IMHO
  19. I think you should fix the low nut slot problem - easily fixed by putting some filler in the slots But I am with you I had the same dis-appointing experience with the 1980's Ric 4003 I had Looked great and a light bass but cumbersome to play and I never got a good sound from it I took it on a gig once and the other guys said they'd be looking for another bass player if I ever bought it on a gig again.
