I had trouble with Parcel2go years ago and would never touch them again. 👎

There always seems to be a steady stream of their stuff being sold cheap on eBay because it was damaged presumably in transit to the shop.

Most airlines will no longer let you take a bass in to the aircraft and the overhead lockers seem smaller these days and won’t hold one. Do you really want to risk one in the hold?

Would that the Shergold was still available at £430, they wouldn’t be able to make enough!

I’ve played 5ers since 1996, but now only have 1 and 3 four stringers plus a 4 string EUB. There is hardly any thing I find I need to break out the 5 for, however if there’s likely to be several songs in either Eb or Bb then I think the 5 gives more scope.

It’s not a Gibson! Looks way over priced.

Really nice bass for the money. Did you get one that wasn’t covered in the remains of a few pints of beer? Last time I had guitars from pawn brokers they were pretty pretty sticky and dirty.

We need to see it again once you’ve degrimed it. Looking forward to the result.

For those that find a standard mandolin to tight on the fretboard but the bouzouki too long, there is the octave mandola, known as the octave mandolin in the USA which seems a more sensible name to me as that is what it is. A mandolin tuned an octave lower.
This is mine, made by Dorset luthier Robin Greenwood:

It looks like the most uncomfortable bass to play ever! But if you like it…….

I never understood why a piece of black wood was put under pickups when Jim Burns renovated it. It made look a right mess and very amateurish.

There is another issue with buying in the US. If it’s new you are not protected in the event of it going wrong by your retail purchase rights, i.e. no guarantee. Had this problem with an iPad bought over there, it died, Apple wouldn’t do anything about it. If bought in U.K. it would have been returnable for 2 years.
