Who is Rex Brown anyway! (I know, I looked him up he’s with Pantera, but I thought that was a sandwich shop in California).

Is it short scale? It is a lovely bass , congrats!
These are 34” long scale, but have a really nice neck. The pickups are great too, with lots of options thanks to the pull pots which change them from humbuckers to single coils.

The string spacing on your bass may also have an effect. I found that on narrow spacing on a Hofner I was hitting the wrong string, I’m more used to the 19mm spacing on a P bass. It some people find them far to wide. Definitely try not to pluck to hard, let the volume knob do the hard work.

I think fashion dictates the height in some cases. Back in the 60s high was the thing, all of the Searchers seemed to be trying to strangle themselves 😂

I always thought they were surprisingly heavy for what appears to be a relatively small body & a short neck. How’s yours?

That sounds an interesting project, @6feet7. Are your having to put new pickups in or do the “no poles” type on the thunderbird cope? It’s said the EB has thunderbird pickups but it does have massive visible poles.

I just think they need a bit of a think…backwards as it soundsImagine a Gibson Les Paul Signature bass reissue (basically a posh Jack Casady) - they’d sell a good few of those, even if they were touching £2000 (they’d probably end up £4000 🙄)
A Gibson version of the reissued “reverse” Thunderbird - like the Epiphone
Grabber/Ripper/G3 1 but actually like the old ones; not the feeble “nearly” versions of 2009/10.
The EB4 mosrite looking thing was a lovely bass, but they changed after a year, then turned into a pseudo Tobias looking thing and then gone…
just a mad company.
The EB you call “Mosrite looking” which I don’t disagree with, was described by the designer as being based on the EB3, doesn’t look much like it to me, but it is a good bass. The next issue, the pointy one is very similar to the Bunny Brunel model they made for a short while before he shifted allegiance to Carvin. Kyle Eastwood still plays them.
They just don’t seem to have anything around for long. -

Someone seems to have scribbled on the back of the head, so I think you should send it back. Seriously one of the nicest Precision’s I ve seen in a long time, wish I had it.

Good luck with it, and it will be on the marketplace when?

Music Nomad make a range of cleaning and polishing products that are well thought of by luthiers. I think I’ve only ever used the polish and it was excellent. Might be less brutal than wire wool.
