  1. Some Aria SB1000s have a problem with the electrics which were encased in wax. Probably best to check one carefully before buying.
  2. Telephone Man - Meri Wilson
  3. I can’t stop lovin’ you - Ray Charles
  4. I know that most pickguards on a precision have a piece of foil stuck to the underside presumably to provide some screening. Back in the late 70s / early 80s Andy Piercy was bassist with After the Fire had a blue precision with a clear pickguard and you could see the rout & wiring. I have a blue precision and fancy a clear pickguard but I am concerned that not having screening may cause problems. Can anyone give me advice on this?
  5. Mambo italiano- Dean Martiin
  6. Revolut, you both Ned to get a card but then a transfer is free. We send money to our daughter in the USA regularly without problems.
  7. Do wah diddy - Manfred Mann
  8. I had a fretless one but the neck was an absolute tree trunk. Sounded good but hard to play for a length of time.
  9. Hippy hippy shake - Swinging Blue Jeans
  10. New York State of mind - Billy Joel
  11. That’s really good looking. Is the headstock a bit narrower?
  12. Looks like a Fender Aerodyne.
  13. I had the earlier model with EMGs except mine was a 5 which came in 35” scale. Excellent basses, shame Spector have pulled the plug on manufacturing them.
  14. That does seem rather strange on a fretted bass, maybe it was originally a fretless?
  15. Thank you, @Bass Direct but I won’t hold my breath. I’ll stick with my Coda. 😆
  16. I’d reckon impossible to play finger style, a plectrum bass. I found I didn’t need a 12 string guitar so definitely don’t need a 12 string bass.
  17. Isn’t part of the problem the “successful” bands. They are seen playing Stratocasters, Telecasters, Les Pauls, 335s, Jazz and Precision basses, albeit possibly vintage ones but not much else. So understandingly aspiring musicians think that to sound like them they need those instruments, invariably cheaper copies, but something that at least looks similar. So the manufacturers provide for them in bucket loads! innovations don’t sell. There’s a history of disasters - Starcasters ( nice to see Snow Patrol using one on Strictly), auto tuners on Gibsons, the weird Roland midi bass, Rickenbacker 5 string basses, Gibson basses designed after 1970, need I go on. If you’re running a business, you need to make things that sell. Failures don’t make profits.
  18. Golden brown - The Stranglers
  19. Cracked shell punk
  20. No one has mentioned the Dimension, short lived but quite a nice shape and decent pickups. The Starcaster bass was also quite innovative or was it just a short scale version copy of the Les Paul Signature (later the Jack Casady).
  21. The night has a thousand eyes - Bobby Vee
  22. What’s Hybrid about them?
  23. That looks really interesting and I’d like to know how it performs for bass as it only has a 6.5 ins speaker + a tweeter. The other thing I’m unclear about is the battery, lithium ion, but is it a rechargeable or do you replace it/them when it’s expired after the 8 hours?
  24. Shades of Ibanez Roadster in the body shape - nice
  25. Heart full of soul - The Yardbirds
