  1. Out of time - Chris Farlow
  2. I don’t need 8 basses of any type. I have 5 and that’s too many. When it comes to guitars I have 2 Taylor and a K.Yiari so pretty high end which I consider essential for acoustics.
  3. Wipeout - The Chantays
  4. The market here looks pretty turgid especially since Brexit and a certain short lived P.M. with rather different views of the economy. If you are prepared to travel over , then to bring in an instrument at least avoids the buyer having to pay the VAT and fees. Could be worth a punt putting a bass for sale on here and see how it goes, it won’t cost you a fortune. I believe there are some good deals on flights from time to time.
  5. As @tauzero says if you’re playing higher up it should not be your palm behind the neck but your thumb.
  6. Reading this I realise I’m not very loyal to any of my instruments. I had my Fender Jazz V for 20 years but traded it some time ago. At present my oldest is a K Yiari guitar which plays nicely, looks vintage and has a rosewood back.
  7. So you found a fripping guitarist? Sorry, couldn’t resist.
  8. Heart of glass - Blondie
  9. Thanks for your quick reply, I was away at the time so have only just seen it. I’ll have look in B&Q and see what the options are.

  15. Ace job. Will he play it now or sell it for an extortionate amount?
  16. True unless you are shredder then an Ibanez is favourite.
  17. What did you use to cover the scratch plate? I want to do something to my white P bass plate but haven’t found anything quite large enough to cover it fully and have been nervous of getting a ripple in it.
  18. I doubt they’re any better and much will depend on their reception in the USA. Taylor’s previous electrics, the T3 did not go down well and was soon dropped.
  19. Ma, he’s making eyes at me - Lena Zavaroni
  20. I’ve never been a fan of black guitars either. However, respraying can be a disaster. If this is your first bass, leave it alone. If it doesn’t work out for you a black one is very easy to sell because most people like them, probably the most popular colour ever. I’ve nothing against Affinity models but check the neck isn’t a banana, I have seen some horrors.
  21. Andy Powers, the man who has revolutionised Taylor Guitars (you have to try a V class) has come up with a range of Electric Guitars with a somewhat retro shape, but with a semi hollow body. A bit pricy, but not compared to Taylor’s. I just a, not sure about the overall look. It might make a nice Jag-ish type bass if he could be so persuaded.
  22. The kids are alright. The Who
  23. I play in my church most weeks. Sometimes on 5 string if there’s going to be songs in Eb or Bb. Otherwise I find the 4 string basses including a FendervP suffice. My 5 string is the Gibson EB5, passive humbuckers with pull pots to change them to single coil”Jazz” type. I got mine for a price within your budget. I used to also use a Spector Spectorcore 5 which was 35in scale and that additionally had a piezo in the bridge offering a very different palate.
