1. I love the idea of being able to internet jam but aren't there going to be latency issues?
2. They do do sandblasted Jazz's as well if you prefer those. http://www.fender.com/basses/jazz-bass/limited-edition-sandblasted-jazz-bass-with-ash-body/0170176338.html#q=sandblasted&start=1
3. Nice!!!
4. I used to think my dream instrument was a Zon Hyperbass, then when I went to spec it just putting a different finish on was an extra $6-700. I mean lol. That paint better be made of angel tears for that.
5.
My gf wants me too justify why I must insist on switching my main and only bass several times a year, month or even every week. That I can't justify fully even too myself, especially as my playing level isn't that high. Love the Acg I now have though and can't see me parting with it for some time.
Ask her to justify all the shoes she buys first.
6. I'm going to hold off till mine arrives and if I don't pick up a fretless at the london bass guitar show and I think my Jake is good enough I'll be ordering from them again.
7. Bah! I sent my initial payment through Santander and it cost me £25 plus rubbish exchange rates. I'll keep it in mind when sending the 2nd part, save myself a few quid.
8. because I like the space as much as the notes.
9. "Use a Metronome" followed by "you can play anything if it's slow enough" and "nobody gives a sh*t about all that fancy crap you're playing"
10. GAS is all about inspiration, and a lot of GAS is understanding that desiring the item is better than having it. I've found this all my life, I wanted a parker fly guitar for 20 years, I eventually bought one and it's a great guitar but 4 years down the line it's just a guitar now rather than the magical item it was before I bought it. It ties into the human desire to be better, to get more.. It's about the excitement of getting that item and it's as much about what the excitement will do to your playing as the item itself. GAS is good. Too much GAS turns into financial flatulence.
11.
Would not use a pc for recording , Mac is the only way to go for serious recording, there are always issues with pc been there done that. no matter the power of the pc/lapotop they just don't hack it for multitrack recording don.t waste your money on a pc is my 20 years recording music advice!!!!
There are more *likely* to be issues with PC, but if you're not scared of getting your hands dirty you can get it working no bother most of the time. Macs are pretty much guaranteed to work out of the box for it, yeah, but it doesn't mean "PCs don't work", it just means they're more of a fiddle.
12. Main problem is getting a laptop where the CPU/RAM aren't physically close to or are shielded adequately from the hard drive. Otherwise you'll get digital little squeaks when recording that even some external soundcards can't help with. I'd look on other forums like gearslutz or the ableton forums for people doing the same and see if they've had issues. Eg: on my Lenovo if I use a cheap external (or the internal) soundcard I get the digital squeaks of the HDD on the recording but using my old Roland Sonic Cell I don't. I've also had this on an Acer once, but weirdly I've never had that issue with a mac.
13.
Yes, why would anyone care? If I said to someone in possession of, for example, a Fender Precision bass 'so, you're the bass guitarist' and they replied 'no, I am a bassist, it's not a guitar', I would think 'what a pompous twat!'
Well, I own an actual bass guitar, the Fender Bass VI. That is actually a bass guitar with it's etymology in the guitar. The traditional Bass Guitar is a cross between a traditional Contrabass and a guitar with it's etymology more in contrabass than guitar. So if I get called Bass Guitarist the pedant in me silently winces and I don't show it. I say, "yes" because otherwise, you will indeed, look like a knob.
14. But if comes down to it "Bass Player", especially as I play some EUB too.
15.
Musician.
+1 The world knows me better for the electronica I do.
16. The 80s metal bass is losing pretty badly here.
17.
Who's the drama queen that's voting the fourth option?
Whoever they are, I approve.
18.
I can't.
In reality +1
19. I think Kayne West was the best Batman back in the 60s.
20. I should have put a fourth option of "Solid gold reclaimed by melting down Kanye West's solid gold toilets".
21.
Nice poll Keef, looks are important to me
They are to us all. I'm wondering if there's a "this far no further" point for people and what it is.
22. How does look affect your bass?
23. I know what you're saying. She has very specific ideas on how things should be done that won't fit right with everyone.
