1. I noticed that deal, but I have Omnisphere 2, and it seems to have everything covered. Plus, there are quite a few excellent 3rd party patches and presets appearing for it at the moment. So much to choose from these days. Some of these small and low priced developers turning out Kontakt Instruments are superb.
 2. As dad said, the spec is on the low side for DAW work. It could be that there is a lot going on in the background (services and apps running). Wifi, Adobe updates, apple updates..etc..it all mounts up to become a hit on the CPU. Checking the windows task manager will give you some idea what's going on in that regards. Checking the resource manager in the DAW is good for checking on VST's etc, but not much help with the operating and app stuff. If you are not using the Laptop for anything else other than DAW work, it might be worth checking out this video for getting better performance out of Windows 7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eer3HqQtJWI
 3.
Well i can't argue with that. His musical ability isn't in doubt, i just don't like the way he's put the music together. But if Micheal League likes him who am i to talk sh*t.
We all talk sh*t here on Basschat, BB5, so I wouldn't worry about it.
 4.
Hes excellent, but i can't help thinking he's not really thinking about the song, but more of his technical ability as a showcase...
Well, it worked, job done. He got a gig with Snarky Puppy.
 5.
I like the noise it makes.
You may have a point. "The English may not like music, but they absolutely love the noise it makes". Thomas Beecham
 6.
He's immensely talented, a natural musician. I think he was studying at the Royal college of music. He's also now playing for Grammy award winning Snarky Puppy.
He has some great ideas and certainly has an ear for harmony. Excellent musician. http://youtu.be/zua831utwMM
 7.
I found the Unplugged Album version a good alternative and learnt that
That version sounds great (The whole band). Actually the whole gig does (IMO).
 8. Yes, it is just chords... But make sure you play the right ones. Maybe, Maggie May needs a billing in the thread link below. Although, I should imagine It might already be cemented there, along with Jean Genie. (But I don't really, fancy listening to four pages of wrong/clam notes.) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/246551-do-the-big-name-acts-make-cock-ups-like-us-mortals/
 9.
What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here!
Your predictive text seems to be having a seizure. "We'll have no treble here!"....Yes?
 10.
I mean, the funky one about f**king his girlfriend while she sits on the sideboard with her feet in the drawers lacks a certain resonance under the circs.
My Gran loved that one.
 11.
You maybe right. Poster #1 and #3 are the same people. Poster #2 is me and we've never met
That's cleared that up then....
 12.
Of course the poster who suggested 'not drinking the alcohol' may in fact had a great sense of humour and was playing it very literally.....
That's what I thought and was laughing at, especially the opening sentence. "I don't recommend sticking the strings down your throat." I thought poster #2 and poster #3 were a bit of a double act.
 13. TB is fine for me, plenty of good chaps and lasses over there who know their stuff. The Double Bass forum is great. The OP did make me laugh.
 14. If you get no luck with your request. Maybe another option or two.... Notion 5 is good for this - There is a demo. Two versions. Full. http://www.presonus.com/products/Notion-5 Cut down version, specifically for Bass/Guitar etc. http://www.presonus.com/products/Progression Or you can always try MuseScore - it's free. https://musescore.org
 15. Lots of great tunes from him, but this one always slips under the radar, and yet it is full of soulful catchy hooks. Great writing. http://youtu.be/CcIvdzYuA1Q
 16.
And 'Nothing Compares 2 U' for Sinead O'connor, which was at number one for what seemed like 4 years at the time!
And 'I Feel For You' - Chaka Khan.
 17. Bad, bad news. A terrific, talented musician who composed some truly great numbers for himself and others. Some top, top musicians have played on his sessions and in his touring bands. R.I.P
 18.
John Francis Pastorius - had the nickname Jocko for much of his early life and many of his close friends called him Jocko. He took the name from a baseball coach who he admired. He later changed the spelling to Jaco but the original nickname stayed for some.
For those that think you are on a wind up... Here is a slightly different take, although I still think Blue was talking about a well known Circus Monkey http://jacopastorius.com/life/
 19.
oh well, guess it must have been Schlitz Beer after all!
20.
Yep, I'm one of those who doesn't like much in the way of solo bass, but this was something else! (Well, strictly speaking is was something else as it wasn't solo, but I'm not going to let pedantry get in the way of some great music)
Solo Bass, a Bass solo, an ensemble of Basses, an ensemble of Basses soloing, a solo Bassist, a Bassist soloing. They all go down like a Mercury balloon.
 21.
How many shirts does that guy own? Looks like he's done the whole suite on bass. I might buy that, awesome bunch of music.
Yes, just noticed that (whole suite - not the shirts )... I might buy as well.
 22.
I`m 72 next month & play in an old band from the 60s. Still work pretty regularly. Also do my own thing supported by various musician friends at local pub venues singing and playing guitar. My own stuff and a bunch of old Gulf Coast stuff. Nothing beats that rush.
Lovely to hear. Great stuff. That goes for the OP as well.
 23.
Is it me or is the link broken somehow? I keep getting an error message.
Yep, fixed now.
 24. Just seen this over at 'No Treble'. An arrangement for several Basses, 'Mercury' from 'The Planets' (Holst). I know there is not a lot of love on this site for Solo Bass Pieces, but I think this one is played and arranged very well (my opinion etc..etc). Edit: Try this one. http://youtu.be/H_TJc5f_urY
 25.
2. This version appeared on Phil's first solo album and was credited to Alphonso Johnson which Lee seems to be playing note for note. nb. I like Lee a lot too.
That original studio version is slightly more relaxed too, tempo wise. http://youtu.be/T622JH7_L8g
