Yes, it is just chords... But make sure you play the right ones. Maybe, Maggie May needs a billing in the thread link below. Although, I should imagine It might already be cemented there, along with Jean Genie. (But I don't really, fancy listening to four pages of wrong/clam notes.) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/246551-do-the-big-name-acts-make-cock-ups-like-us-mortals/
What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here!
Your predictive text seems to be having a seizure. "We'll have no treble here!"....Yes?
I mean, the funky one about f**king his girlfriend while she sits on the sideboard with her feet in the drawers lacks a certain resonance under the circs.
My Gran loved that one.
You maybe right. Poster #1 and #3 are the same people. Poster #2 is me and we've never met
That's cleared that up then....
Of course the poster who suggested 'not drinking the alcohol' may in fact had a great sense of humour and was playing it very literally.....
That's what I thought and was laughing at, especially the opening sentence. "I don't recommend sticking the strings down your throat." I thought poster #2 and poster #3 were a bit of a double act. TB is fine for me, plenty of good chaps and lasses over there who know their stuff. The Double Bass forum is great. The OP did make me laugh.

If you get no luck with your request. Maybe another option or two.... Notion 5 is good for this - There is a demo. Two versions. Full. http://www.presonus.com/products/Notion-5 Cut down version, specifically for Bass/Guitar etc. http://www.presonus.com/products/Progression Or you can always try MuseScore - it's free. https://musescore.org

Lots of great tunes from him, but this one always slips under the radar, and yet it is full of soulful catchy hooks. Great writing. http://youtu.be/CcIvdzYuA1Q
And 'Nothing Compares 2 U' for Sinead O'connor, which was at number one for what seemed like 4 years at the time!
And 'I Feel For You' - Chaka Khan.

Bad, bad news. A terrific, talented musician who composed some truly great numbers for himself and others. Some top, top musicians have played on his sessions and in his touring bands. R.I.P

Flea's National Anthem at Lakers vs. Jazz
John Francis Pastorius - had the nickname Jocko for much of his early life and many of his close friends called him Jocko. He took the name from a baseball coach who he admired. He later changed the spelling to Jaco but the original nickname stayed for some.
For those that think you are on a wind up... Here is a slightly different take, although I still think Blue was talking about a well known Circus Monkey http://jacopastorius.com/life/ -
oh well, guess it must have been Schlitz Beer after all!

Yep, I'm one of those who doesn't like much in the way of solo bass, but this was something else! (Well, strictly speaking is was something else as it wasn't solo, but I'm not going to let pedantry get in the way of some great music)
Solo Bass, a Bass solo, an ensemble of Basses, an ensemble of Basses soloing, a solo Bassist, a Bassist soloing. They all go down like a Mercury balloon.
How many shirts does that guy own? Looks like he's done the whole suite on bass. I might buy that, awesome bunch of music.
Yes, just noticed that (whole suite - not the shirts )... I might buy as well.
I`m 72 next month & play in an old band from the 60s. Still work pretty regularly. Also do my own thing supported by various musician friends at local pub venues singing and playing guitar. My own stuff and a bunch of old Gulf Coast stuff. Nothing beats that rush.
Lovely to hear. Great stuff. That goes for the OP as well. -
Is it me or is the link broken somehow? I keep getting an error message.
Yep, fixed now.

Just seen this over at 'No Treble'. An arrangement for several Basses, 'Mercury' from 'The Planets' (Holst). I know there is not a lot of love on this site for Solo Bass Pieces, but I think this one is played and arranged very well (my opinion etc..etc). Edit: Try this one. http://youtu.be/H_TJc5f_urY
2. This version appeared on Phil's first solo album and was credited to Alphonso Johnson which Lee seems to be playing note for note. nb. I like Lee a lot too.
That original studio version is slightly more relaxed too, tempo wise. http://youtu.be/T622JH7_L8g
He's got a couple of gems from his solo albums but ,for me, Victor's best work is with the Flecktones where he's very much a bass player in a band as well as a virtuoso musician showing off his best chops.
Ha Ha. Bela just floors me every time I hear him. Lovely nod to Miles on this track. I know VW tends to get a panning on this site, but for me he does it.
All good advice above. The majority of songs are in G, D,A and E. There are a few in other keys. Get on you tube and listen for the following genres: Jigs, Reels, Hornpipes, Polkas and Waltzes. They can be English, Irish, Scottish, American but to name a few. That covers most bases apart from one we used to do 3/4, 4/4, 5/4 6/8 transitions in one tune. You will be driving the dance in that people will step / dance to your beat so my advice is keep it simple, light and tight. Most bands use music (or used to when I played regularly in the ceilidh circuit). As mentioned earlier usually two or three tunes with A / B sections repeated then change tune and have a key key changes in a dance.
This really. If you don't know the tunes, ask the bandleader for a list and keys. Then do your homework. This is one gig (not any gig really) where you don't want to be dropping out of verses or peddling notes why you work out chord changes. People will notice, this type of gig people want a solid foundation for dancing. And you want that call back, don't you?

Add the fact that he is a great sight reader and good quick listening ears along with his tight playing, groove and timing, you can see why he was also hired on a lot of TV series themes and film scores. One of the very best. Top, top player. Good OP video, thanks for posting - I have never seen that one.

I have a Jazz with Barts and a Bart Preamp, and the sound is anything but "dark". Very creamy, smooth sound with plenty of zing. My five string has Delano's, Jazz pup at the neck, and MM at the bridge. The MM pup can be switched to single pup, so like a Jazz configuration. This Bass has an Aguilar preamp, and to my ears, this set up (in single coil mode) is darker sounding than the Bart set up (above). But again that might be other factors, woods, finger boards etc.

Flea's National Anthem at Lakers vs. Jazz
Agree entirely with Terrible, terrible, terrible. but not the second - why not mess around with them, most (I'll exclude the French one) are so terrible, poor tunes, have dated badly, and are generally a bag of jingoistic nonsense.
Agree. I thought this (link below) was a creative, well arranged, rousing over the top, big silver screen, Hollywood, chord substituted extravaganza (just missing the Broadway style show girls). Clearly where Flea got his motivating, artistically crafted, moving version from. http://youtu.be/S2HNH9orkTQ -
Thanks Lowdown. Tried editing my post and left out the "s" as TheGeek suggested. Did not seem to work though.
Sometimes, deleting the link and then pasting again without the 's' during an edit works
