1.
Thanks for the links lowdown. I'll give Evolve Mutations 2 some more consideration then. Having played around with Massive a bit more this afternoon I can see how much scope there is beyond presets. Can you do a lot of tweaking in Evolve Mutations? Stylus RMX is a tab pricey seeing as I've just splashed out on the keyboard and Komplete. I've got EZDrummer 2 so maybe, just maybe they'll bring out a cinematic percussion EZX for that.
Yes, there is plenty of tweeking in Evolve. If you want a good collection of Cinematic percussion (drums and metals), Catalyst by ARIA Sounds is on sale at the moment for £24.00. It's for Kontakt. Good value. http://www.ariasounds.com/catalyst_kontakt_drums_percussion.html Video demo. http://youtu.be/JEMIMeb9log
2. Joe Long was the Bass player until the mid 70's. I would go for him, different style and sound to 'December 63'. EDIT: Just seen this, but you know Wiki...... From the Album. https://en.wikipedia...r_Seasons_album) Joe Long. 3. I have the Mutations series, and there is an awful lot more under the hood than in that video. It is very versatile and with use of the mod wheel, there are plenty of sonic options available. It is more than just an Arp generator. It's a specific tool for a specific sound, and most percussion libraries are like that. Here is a good rundown on some of the Cinematic Perc libraries that are popular. http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/drum-libraries-and-vsts-of-your-choice/42404 Also Stylus RMX is worth a mention, it comes with a huge library, and there are plenty of expansion packs in the Cinematic style. You can also convert REX files for use. Been using it for years and is my favourite percussion VST'i. I have about s dozen expansion packs. https://www.spectrasonics.net/products/stylusrmx.php NI Damage is another great tool. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/orchestral-cinematic/damage/
4. Another album I was into was 'Provision' by Scritti Politti (1988). http://youtu.be/wM9zHBKZsvQ Also 'Cupid and Psyche' by same band, mid 80's. Marcus Miller & Will Lee played on a couple of tracks. http://youtu.be/4Gje3gQxW9c
5. One of my few UK album likes - 'No Parlez', Paul Young. Pino bursting onto the scene.
6.
Maybe some of the p**-taking and bull**** in other topics bring forth beauty from the bowels of the forum..? The blooms here certainly make up, to a great degree, for some of the dross I stumble across in some of the posts elsewhere. Thanks, all, then, for yet another splendid bouquet.
True, dat.
7.
is this the way to the sausages and custard thread?
No....Amarillo.
8. I
Love Jaco, had trouble getting the DVD as they kept pushing the UK release date back. I bit the bullet, and ordered the blu-ray from Amazon US - good price as it turned out. Got it in under a week.
I went that route as well. It really is a great watch.
9. I believe Barry Guy has his score works up on his website. You can purchase them.
10.
"All The Young Dudes"
I do like most of the Bowie tunes, but that is proberly my favourite.
11.
https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/voyage-of-the-butterfly-boat Cheers James
Lovely piece of music. Nice themes and motives and builds well with the change of Instruments and arrangement.
12. Very sad news. Such a very versatile Musician, always had something different to offer.
13. Listening to Bela Fleck many moons ago, I was hooked. There are some seriously great players out there.
14.
Another thing that was prevalent if recording at that time was that engrs liked the cleanest track and this meant they wanted pick parts if they could get them. John Taylor never had a classic slap style then either so the pulls could have been off a pick part. Whether DD had the 'clout' at that time or experience to go against a call/suggestion to play it with a pick might have been a factor. I guess we will never know...
Just had another listen - there is at least one drop in, maybe more. But, 'drop ins' we're always around, long before copy and paste.
15. That's not BE. The line works well within the track and does drive along. Gets a little bit messy towards the end, especially the octaves. He was possibly running out of steam....lol..
16. Focusrite iTrack is fine, but it has no Midi I/O. If you need Midi control the Focusrite iTrack Dock is a better bet. http://itrack.focusrite.com/products/itrack-dock-studio Or as Bassbus said above, the Alesis IO Dock. http://www.dawsons.co.uk/alesis-io-dock-ii-recording-interface-for-ipad?gclid=Cj0KEQiAzai0BRCs2Yydo8yptuIBEiQAN3_lFi8IsLXrScnkL9NSIgelKxbO46aJt6DdGl1VZJViTrUaAlLN8P8HAQ Both great and only between £30/£40 more than the iTrack.
17. Sad news. Outstanding career. RIP. NC with an absolutely top, top house band. She always worked with the cream, and deservedly so. http://youtu.be/tDblVjyHr_U EDIT: Sorry, someone above already posted this tune (an older version). But, to my ears, they all sound great!
18.
Yes, I tried that, too (well, 80 pieces and a piano..! ). It was rubbish, so I scrapped it. Maybe it's me..?
Been there, done it. Only in my case, the Piano ended up in 80 pieces.
19.
it doesnt start until 8 seconds so technically its 7 seconds short
'ang on. How do we know that those seven seconds are not Tacet bars?
20. Well, even the great John Williams needed help. He scored the new Star Wars movie, yet he needed the help of a 100 piece Orchestra to make it sound any good.
21.
a 40mm u-bend? a good part number for that would be UB40?
Have you seen 'Das Boot'? Great film.
22. Ooops... Sorry, I have landed in the wrong thread. But, while I am here, Have a bump on me.
23. Bilbo leaving the above thread to iron his face.
