1. Yep, I use Spitfire Audio. I will have a look in the morning (presuming you haven't sorted by then). What library did you get?
2.
Look! A Dwarf with a violin.
Where are we going tonight, sir? It will have to be your place officer...my parents are a bit old.
3.
Jim Tavare'
Lol.... I have done gigs/shows in far flung corners of the Earth with him. Indeed, a very, very funny man.
4.
Ten doors in a cul-de-sac..? You'd be lucky if any of them could name a single bass player.
True, dat. But, I bet all the blokes know the names of all the wife's and partners, and what the inside of the bedrooms look like, not to mention how many keys are on the key rings.
5.
LicenCe !!!
Always confuses me that one, but in the software world........ http://www.reaper.fm/purchase.php https://www.steinberg.net/nc/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/how-to-transfer-a-license-from-soft-elicenser-to-usb-elicenser http://www.native-instruments.com/en/company/legal-information/end-user-license-agreement/ http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/439787-REG/Vienna_Symphonic_Library_VSLVKEY_ViennaKey_USB_License_Control.html

7. Pino. Everyone in the world knows it's a Bass gtr, and possibly that it's PP. Well my local Butcher does - He knows all about chops. http://youtu.be/ju_a2-Pve4g
8.
Two completely different types of bands. Blue
Yep. I prefer Macca and Lennon singing Beatles tunes, and Daltrey singing Who songs. If either tried to sing the other band songs, well..... Imagine, Lennon trying to sing 'Won't get Fooled again...', Dog and Duck written all over it**
9. Terrance Palmer, Bassist with "Israel & New Breed". As above, lyrics leave a bit to be desired, but they are beautifully phrased. http://youtu.be/-xXiSvddlfA
10. ^^ Of course it's not. It was just a nod to the posts above.
11. I read an article a very long time ago, written by a String player on the 'Tom & Jerry' sessions. When looking at his diary, he would start to freak out and get anxious as the dreaded 'T & J' sessions approached. They had very little rehearsal times for the episodes. Terrifically skilled musicians having ago here. Makes Jazz look easy.
12. Message to the OP. This all your fault. In fact - A Remark You Made!
13.
I rarely hear him now but I heard this the other day and it moved me so deeply. Simply stunning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpaFTPmp2Pw&feature=youtu.be
I still listen to this on occasions and I think the lyrical side of him really shines out on this track. As someone else said above, a lovely arrangement as well.
14. Kontakt works just fine in Logic, no problems there.
15.
And yes, Jaco was really all that, his facility was incredible, his composition and ear was amazing too. Do I like his entire output, no of course not. There's a few videos of him playing Piano too, beautiful playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBhoDaS5SKQ Si
Throw in his arranging chops as well, quite a rounded musician. Thanks for the link, not stumbled on that before.
16. Wings didn't do very well?..yep... 'Live and Let Die', one of the biggest selling Bond (theme) tunes...Lol... Carry on.
17.
Of course all music is totally subjective but what I've heard of Jaco Pastorius has been a total let down compared to what I've heard from word of mouth.
So, are you saying that you liked Jaco and his Word of Mouth project, but didn't like his solo offerings? That's understandable, I suppose. Some of his sideman playing was great (as posted as above). He certainly shook up the world of Bass. A fan here.
18. Maybe it might be an idea to start a thread with links on free Kontakt patches, for both the full version and the free player version. There is a ton of interesting stuff out there.
19. When you say 'horns or brass', are you looking at Orchestral or Pop/Jazz/Funk etc? There are various excellent libraries out there specialising in the above, and quite expensive. Do you have Kontakt full version? If so, the Library that comes with it, has a reasonable selection of the above (plus a lot more other Instruments - over 40 gigs worth). Also there are a ton of great freebie patches on the net that will only work with the full version, including horn/brass patches. Kontakt 5 (full) is currently on sale at the moment (50%). https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-5/ If it's ready made loops you are after, someone should be along shortly and point you in the right direction. I have heard a few Brass loops in some of the monthly Comps, more than likely free as well.
20. Yep, great stuff. There is a fantastic version of 'Mountain Dance' halfway through that video. (I think it's the same concert). Dave Grusin is one of my favourite musicians, and he always had top, top players around him.
21. JRR Shop. I use this place quite a lot for downloadable products. Always very cheap, and you usually get extra discount at checkout. Even without Black Friday, there are always good deals going on. I chat on line sometimes (VI Control) with the guy who runs it - Top bloke and very helpful. 22.
love this record.
Thought you might.
23. You can't have CK thread without this http://youtu.be/ymuWb8xtCsc
