2. Is it obsession? maybe. Which leads me to the question. Do you have back up partners as well...
3.
Lowdown, I had forgotten the Parkinson Show theme, we used to play that as an "off" at the end of each set!
Did your band play some of the pub and club gigs in S/E, East London by any chance?
4.
I'm using Audacity 2.0.6; it has a 'preview' button for each of the effects, and a multi-level 'Undo' (not sure how many...). Reaper is not designed to do the same task. If one wants a DAW, I'd recommend Reaper. If one only wants to edit audio, I'd recommend Audacity. There's no downside to trying both, and choosing on the perceived merits of each.
Now at version 2.1.0, with real time preview and VST support, I believe. http://audacityteam.org I am not an Audacity user, but it seems it will do the job for the OP. .
5. Film Composer James Horner was killed in an accident yesterday. Fitting to put one of his themes in this thread. http://youtu.be/9AN04imFDK8
6. Harry Stoneham with his theme for 'The Parkinson Show'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eB8g4B-1ns
7. Another two sites well worth a look (regarding orchestrating and composing/writing). http://tutsplus.com/authors/ryan-leach http://composerfocus.com/5-orchestration-lessons-from-john-williams-flight-to-neverland/
8.
Really enjoyable tunes to play especially as the composition/arrangements were by people such as John Barry, Michel LeGrand, and Lalo Schifrin and recorded by top session players. I miss those days, playing 5 nights a week plus Sunday lunchtimes, how times have changed!
Indeed they have changed. I very much remember those gig schedules. Plus throw in the Monday lunch times 'Lovely Jubbly club', or packing up as quick as you could and go and do a gig in a late night hostess club in the West End...lol..
9.
<p> https://youtu.be/p0XBD4o4XRU BTW How do you embed a YouTube video?
Always loved this piece, terrific writing. Delete the 's' off 'https'.... http://youtu.be/p0XBD4o4XRU
10. I am a sucker for Film and TV themes, literally 100's of CD's of the stuff. A rousing driving tune. http://youtu.be/XWXQUhBsUVM http://youtu.be/Je2fGzKiqRM A moving theme from a great TV series. http://youtu.be/7uTAIpU0sa0
11.
Apparently her favourite line is "Get on with it!" in between songs.
That's not heckling, she is just giving good old fashion professional advice.
12. Is this of any use? or worth investigating? http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=381092 Only three reviews regarding the chipset, but all good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Siig-NN-E20012-S2-SIIG-Firewire-PCI-E/dp/B000G6U8VY
13. This library is being sold at a silly price. You can download the free Kontakt player, so no need for a full Kontakt purchase. Just about every thing you need, if you want to get into Orchestral writing. (26 gig download). Plenty of articulations in the library, and the demos sound very versatile. One of my boys has gone for it, and is downloading at the moment. http://vstbuzz.com/deals/50-off-complete-orchestral-collection-by-peter-siedlaczek/?mc_cid=3e0dcc6f4e&mc_eid=f0d895808a
14. After watching some of that OP video, I am surprised all their hair hasn't fallen out, after a performance like that.
15.
They make a lovely noise, at least when I'm not playing them
Lol..... Whenever I hear 'Noise' mentioned, it always reminds me of this quote. "The English may not like music, but they absolutely love the noise it makes" Sir Thomas Beecham.
16. I have always been in and out with OC's stuff. Some (a lot), I was right up there with, other material I was left dazed and confused. But no doubting, he was an outstanding talent. RIP
17. W8.1 user here. I just use the anti-virus that comes with W8 (Windows defender). When using my DAW, I just turn off (disable) my WiFi, turn off anti virus and firewall. If I need to update any music software Apps (rarely, and I wait to I need a bunch of stuff), I just turn it all on again (less than a minute to do). I have set windows updates to let me know when windows needs updating, and let me choose when and what to download (again this only happens when I am on-line). So when off-line, not much running in the background, other than essential windows stuff. I have read folks on here saying there is no need to turn it all off with Quadcore i7's. But I have VSL VE5 Pro running as a server, and it certainly all interfered with that.
18. Yes, very nice indeed. Rick Kemp on Bass (If I remember right) on that track, and also an Upright player on the album as well. I am sure someone will be along who knows for sure.
19. Rob Palmer shows you how to build your own shed, without the need of a Drummer. http://www.youtube....h?v=uXVEtJX-k2Y
20. A lot of outstanding Musicians played in his bands, and he treated them very well. The late great Derek Watkins did a stint with the JL Orchestra. Starts with Flugel then tears it up on Trumpet towards the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOKZ5zSDaAA
21.
Wonder if the Duke of York has a memory of his ten best
Winner, Bill. Claim your prize.
