1. If you would like a really lovely expressive Solo Cello (a very smooth legato patch included). Grab it here, and best of all.... It's FREE... A couple of demo tracks up on the site as well. http://vstbuzz.com/freebies/pocketblakus-cello/
2. Cubase stopped supporting DXi way back, on the advice of Dick Turpin. The only way, would be to use a DXi wrapper. (It was a known Roland Edirol problem back in the day) For using Edirol as a VST, IIRC, there is a fix/work around involving resetting c## information at the beginning of the midi track, or another way, saving Edirol as a performance, not an Instrument. Some stuff here that might help sort the problem. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Edirol%20%20Orchestra%20resetting%20instruments%20to%20default.&newwindow=1&gws_rd=ssl
3.
14/15. The social media icons covered the last chord in the cadence - didn't notice it!
Use your ears*.
4. Yep, IIRC D## (E). (I can't seem to get the correct double sharp symbol on my iPad). To be honest, I had to scratch my head with the Cadence (Thinking the same as you).
5. Little bit of fun here. Theory and sight reading. http://www.classicfm...TL0HFs4TDr0H.97 I got 15/15
6.
I've done something which may appal everyone... Myself included! Now do I dare upload it, and perhaps do a slightly more accessible one as well?
Well Lenny, if you do upload them, make sure the bomb squad diffuses at least one first. Basschat doesn't like more than one disaster in a day. Looks bad in the newspapers and upsets members at their breakfast....old boy. Looking forward to what you have come up with - always something different.
7.
Lots of things put me off but I want to hear some other people's opinions.
ALL the things, should put you off.
8.
Equally amazing is how there aren't hundreds of balls lying on the floor afterwards..
Yep*.....lol.... Also, twice during the Vibes solo when the sound is a C#, quite clearly the ball is landing on a C natural.
9. Suggest and Introduce new songs into the gig, with NO Guitar solos.
10.
Someone has just sung a selection of songs from Les Mis. Great voice, but at a wedding?!
And of course, also known as 'The Glums' ...lol...
11.
Session player, Russ Stableford.
Been looking at a lot of Internet stuff regarding Russ. His son and grandson have been posting on various sites. They even mention that he had three Fender basses. A trusty Jazz, a Precision and some kind of fretless Fender. Apparently he was always messing around with various strings and foam mutes to get his sound. I followed a link and ended up reading about the Bassist on a lot of Bert Kaempfert recordings called "Ladi Geisler", who also had a very similar distinctive sound. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladi_Geisler http://vimeo.com/33252744
12. Saddled up, trotted into town and voted. Well done all, some interesting takes on the picture. Now I will get the feck out of Dodge City before I get my head blown off in the crossfire from the composers I didn't vote for.
13. I would take my Upright and play Jazz solos all day and night. That should be able to keep any wild animals at a distance.
14. What is going on here? Earlier there was a post about about being emotionally moved and in floods of tears....lol.... As it happens I love Wojciech Kilar's compositions and scores. The OP video was a Cue from "Dracula", and a top piece it was. The whole score is marvellous. The "Exodus" is also a lovely work He certainly wrote some Killer scores and is worth checking out on YouTube.
15. Ah...I get it and nice try. The Compressor, is in fact, not for your voice. I might get one and position it over the door for when my lady comes in. On the other hand, a brickwall limiter might be a better bet in my (our/her) house.
16. Back then, he really was the guy and played on loads of biggies. http://youtu.be/ierY2nOVX64 http://youtu.be/zY0--b6DLqQ
17. Yep, very sad. Terrific player. RIP.
18.
But, if he's playing on an Em, then he's playing the #5th (C) to the minor 3rd (G).
If he is playing a #5th (C Bass) over Em, it would make the chord Cmaj7. Ok, next, over to someone else...lol...
19. Classical bowing teqhniques. I mainly used the upright for Jazz, and some pop, country and some shows that required minimal bowing. But I am happy with how it is coming along, and for a double whammy, it's helped my teqhnique no end for sawing down trees and branches in the garden.
20. An interesting (although long) read here. Talking about (in places) "Everlasting Love" and the general MU position towards use and payment for session musicians back then. http://www.muhistory.com/?p=1089 Slightly off topic, but regarding Russ Stableford. His son turned up on a thread regarding "Everlasting Love" a while back. http://freakytrigger.co.uk/ft/2006/07/the-love-affair-everlasting-love/ He also posted up a YouTube link of his dad playing on "The Muppet Show". Bass comes in at 01:22. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UVAAgcjIgFA
21. Very funny....lol...
22.
I'm struggling with getting Youtube videos to embed for some reason.
Delete the 's' from "https" at the front end of the address (http).
23. Yep, great stuff. I also have the Live in Cannes CD (I presume the same one). I believe Dave Brubeck and Pat Metheny, among others, featured on the same gig. Great music and playing in the South of France. Don't get any better than that!....lol..
24. Hey Nikos, good stuff. Lovely smooth, tight sound.
