1.
Another thing, I don't know what it's like in the UK, but really good opportunities are not advertised publically. The really hot bands making big $$$ have their own camp and resources for their opportunities. Blue
Pretty much here in the UK as well. Most of the top regular working corporate function bands (which includes overseas work), dep (sub) wise, tend to pull from a regular pool of musicians, and if a permanent position becomes available, would go to those regular dep(sub) guys first, and then onto recommendations from those guys before any auditioning.
 2. Basschat Facebook page just posted this gem up. So if you don't follow BC on Facebook, here it is in all it's glory... Will Lee singing "Macarthur Park" and of course, doing Bass duty on The Letterman Show.. Check out the ending..... http://youtu.be/RUPSilcJFrQ
 3.
That really would be taking the piss. You set 'em up, I'll knock 'em down
Fancy starting a band ?
 4. "Only bass guitarists with video samples will be considered." I am surprised they didn't ask for a Urine sample as well.

 6.
Always loved the freshness of this track, not their bestknown song but I find it very uplifting
Good one, always loved that track. The straight down the middle Drumming always reminded me of John Robinson's style.
 7.
One down side to the Audient is that it doesnt support MIDI at all, they say at Audient that no device can do MIDI and audio stably, I don't know for sure (I don't actually use MIDI) but I would be surprised in the extreme if the RME devices didnt manage just fine.
Not sure why they make that silly claim, my Babyface runs MIDI (din pin) as good as gets. Quite easily over 100 MIDI tracks without freezing etc, and the timing is spot on. Apart from Bass/Gtr plus some occasional vocals etc, most of my work is MIDI based and RME has been the most reliable regarding that (well for me anyway). Although my son uses a Quad Capture, and the MIDI performance on that is very good. Personally I would save up the extra dosh and get a RME Babyface, Thomann and Soundsalive do them for £380.00 delivered. http://www.thomann.de/gb/rme_babyface_blue.htm http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/RME_BabyFace_USB_Audio_Interface/RME-BABYFACE
 8.
f*** me, that was a long set.
Ha ha....lol.....
 9. Never accept "cheque will be in the post", or "it will be ok in the mix".
 10. Wimps.... During the 70/80's not uncommon to do 4, 5 and 6 sets of 45 mins on 15 mins off. Doing American airbases in Germany, Cruises and night club residency stints in Denmark, London etc, it was the norm six days a week. Some of the corporate functions I dep on these days usually has the rhythm section trio playing dinner music for 90 mins/two hours before the main gig (extra dosh of course). To be honest during those 6 night residency gigs in the 70's it was great for getting your playing chops together.
 11. Not for me, some serious rubbish going on. (Although I quite enjoyed John Miles at the end). Who was that woman in red introducing the turns? Painful.
 12. Two or three shops in and around Alicante, granted not the best, but ok. Try Rogel Music (Avignuda De Alcoy) if you are after something on low budget, a few Basses in there. http://rogelaudiomusic.com/epages/149a946f-1e24-4921-a301-e0114d4f138f.sf/es_ES/?ObjectPath=/Shops/149a946f-1e24-4921-a301-e0114d4f138f/Categories/Instrumentos/Instrumentos_de_cuerda/Bajos_electricos
 13.

Well, when I said Schubert, I might have meant to say Schumacher, (possible) damn predictive text. Check the bottom of the image......lol...... Ava Marie? BOT, Yep, great Bass line.
 14.
If you'll forgive the 'hijack', but in a similar vein... Here's a MIDI 'piano roll', but of what..?
Flight of the Bumblebee?
 15.
Plus Jazz players all seem to play something completey different to each other anyway!
A 16 piece big band would sound a bit a stupid all playing in unison though.....lol... What Dr Dave said about cock up recovery.
 16.
So let me see if I've grasped this....what you're saying is that to sound "really good", you have to play "in a good way" (or "well" as we say in English). Wow, man, that is deep.
Well...It made me snigger.... And to top it, I was going to say something deep myself (at least for me). But with you on the prowl....I think I will Tacet...lol...
 17.

Is that at Leigh-on-Sea? Looks like the railway line behind.
 18. I believe one of Basschats Oligarchs has a nice little sideline that can help you out.

 21.
That is SUCH a quintessential Disney sound.
Yep......They have captured it spot on.
 22. Well......These folks seem to know what they are doing....
 23.
Boney M were totally dreadful and formulaic Euro Pop - their strings sound really was the bottom of the barrel.
That string sound of the time, was not unique to Boney M. It was the typical "Disco Strings" that was used on many tracks both sides of the Atlantic. Small string sections swamped in ambience and with the use of Flange and Phasers, double tracking etc playing themes and motifs. The "Munich Disco" sound was not unlike Motown in ways, a factory product. There was a bunch of session musicians called "Munich Machine" including a few Brits who played (very well) on a ton of stuff. A bit of info here about the players and artist they recorded for. http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/munich_machine
