1.
Great to see that there might be some more 'authentic' bass playing in this months comp - I'm not a bass player but am a fan of the bass guitar. With the suggestion towards the HUGE subject of funk/70's/p-funk/disco/soul/jazz - I am sure it is gonna be a great comp!
Well..............There has been some of the Funkiest Bass Lines blowing out the bottom of peoples Hi-Fi's, played on...Er....... Bass Synth/Keyboards. If it's played on a 34" Bass spoon and Funky, It's all welcome. And that really would be a challenge.
2. Another side to Chaka that I love, She can sit back on it when required. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymuWb8xtCsc

If you use Cubase or Nuendo, this might be of interest. It works well. http://www.steinberg...nect/trial.html
4.
This might make your male member look longer though, which could be grounds for rejection in itself.
Start you own band......and call it 'Erection Rejection'.
5. We are talking about just trying to join a regular gigging (image) band? Doing studio/TV sessions of general freelancing/depping work, this would never arise, Unless you are auditioning for a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs gig/tour.
6.
It's OK, I got your reference! Not sure others would though...
Don't get 'Swept Away' with all the comedy - You need to be old enough. Too much 'Free Time' on our hands.
7.
do you you know you can show the vid/pic by deleting the S in the https in the start of the web address. just a thought buddy
For some reason when I post from my iPad, only the address link shows up. The deleting the 'S' don't seem to work. Maybe someone knows a way around this ?
8. Nicet Live Concert from the Java Jazz Festival last year. At 29:30 the Bass player shares melody duties with the Sax player, very nicely played as well. https://www.youtube....h?v=qLu_FOa1S_c
9. Voted - And well done all.
10. The Webmley gig. Nice Bass solo from NE at 03:25 in the first video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUdBihoqwBU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLG0qe1rffw
11.
Yep, I was there. My father was a jazz trumpet player so this was part of my education aged 12!!
He would have liked that 'Patches' Stewart was on Trumpet duty with AJ that night....
12.
I kind of meant on a score, so you can play cello music without having to transpose the notation up, assuming you have a low B.
You can play what's written, but on the Bass Gtr/ Double Bass it will sound an Octave lower. If you want to play that particular piece in the same register as the Cello, you would have to play your Bass part up an Octave. For chart reading purposes, The Cello sounds as written, Bass sounds an octave lower Than written. I think that's what you are saying.
13. Brilliance all round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY-uLLNFh_4
14. Don't know where to start (or end) with AJ, I have just about every album by him....Lol... Just love his voice. Anybody go to the Wembley arena gig in the early 80's ? Truly outrageous gig, with David Sanborn band supporting. Silly amount of talent on show, including..... Marcus Miller, Nate East, Steve Gadd, Ricky Lawson, Hiram Bullock, Greg Phillinganes, Bobby Lyle and a few others.
15.
Tonight I will see him play with the Jeff Lorber band in Rotterdam.
Should be a nice gig to see. From his website (Interview and a music clip) http://www.lorber.com/
16. Another 'Tight' band from that period. You might have seen this - But hey great for a Sunday morning. Top playing all round, and the Bass player likes a Groove..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brk_GByvouY
17. I remember buying this album when it first came out. Top stuff.
18. Richard Bona today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jnjt-dyego http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EY8PFa29ZI
19. QJ has done so, so much, a real Musical craftsman. Rod Temperton's song writing credits are pretty outstanding as well, and he did some killer stuff with Quincy. (Not bad for a geezer from Cleethorpes). The Quincy Jones 75th Birthday celebration concert is worth a watch/listen, some awesome singers and Musicians (Nate East on Bass) who have worked with him on show. The first half is more Jazz, the second is mostly groove. 2 & 1/2 hours of great music (IMO). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl_TWGo3JMc
20. I thought this might be of use to some of you. All things DAW/Recording/Composing related. Lots of new releases regarding software etc, and plenty of tips. http://www.vi-control.net/forum/index.php?sid=fd37bdf849dc7cc234c3f6bd7562686e
21. The guy is more on it in the first video, nice rich tone as well. I loves LJ's slapping on this Jackson tune, really heavy groove. http://youtube.com/watch?v=xjZ1CzcK1GI

23.
There's your problem right there - this has been superseded (for exactly the problem you've described) by the Edirol UA-20 audio capture Oojamaflip.
Although I believe there was a way around it using a Behringer Hum Destroyer HD400. To be honest you are better off just getting a new Audio interface for what they cost these days.
24.
that's beer for you.
And that was only at "08:54 PM"... I dread to think what you were posting at "09.54 PM"
25. Just set the recorder for that - Thanks for the heads up.
