1. Brilliance all round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY-uLLNFh_4
2. Don't know where to start (or end) with AJ, I have just about every album by him....Lol... Just love his voice. Anybody go to the Wembley arena gig in the early 80's ? Truly outrageous gig, with David Sanborn band supporting. Silly amount of talent on show, including..... Marcus Miller, Nate East, Steve Gadd, Ricky Lawson, Hiram Bullock, Greg Phillinganes, Bobby Lyle and a few others.
3.
Tonight I will see him play with the Jeff Lorber band in Rotterdam.
Should be a nice gig to see. From his website (Interview and a music clip) http://www.lorber.com/
4. Another 'Tight' band from that period. You might have seen this - But hey great for a Sunday morning. Top playing all round, and the Bass player likes a Groove..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brk_GByvouY
5. I remember buying this album when it first came out. Top stuff.
6. Richard Bona today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jnjt-dyego http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EY8PFa29ZI
7. QJ has done so, so much, a real Musical craftsman. Rod Temperton's song writing credits are pretty outstanding as well, and he did some killer stuff with Quincy. (Not bad for a geezer from Cleethorpes). The Quincy Jones 75th Birthday celebration concert is worth a watch/listen, some awesome singers and Musicians (Nate East on Bass) who have worked with him on show. The first half is more Jazz, the second is mostly groove. 2 & 1/2 hours of great music (IMO). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl_TWGo3JMc
8. I thought this might be of use to some of you. All things DAW/Recording/Composing related. Lots of new releases regarding software etc, and plenty of tips. http://www.vi-control.net/forum/index.php?sid=fd37bdf849dc7cc234c3f6bd7562686e
9. The guy is more on it in the first video, nice rich tone as well. I loves LJ's slapping on this Jackson tune, really heavy groove. http://youtube.com/watch?v=xjZ1CzcK1GI
10. Chick Corea and Al Jarreau day. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QWjGhZt4Dsk http://youtube.com/watch?v=vybUXUhhjdA
11.
There's your problem right there - this has been superseded (for exactly the problem you've described) by the Edirol UA-20 audio capture Oojamaflip.
Although I believe there was a way around it using a Behringer Hum Destroyer HD400. To be honest you are better off just getting a new Audio interface for what they cost these days.
12.
that's beer for you.
And that was only at "08:54 PM"... I dread to think what you were posting at "09.54 PM"
13. Thanks for the OP post. Managed to see him a couple of times back in the 80's, a real treat.
14.
Not gonna enter again this month. No disrespect i just can't get into these 'Still' pictures that are being used. Just doesn't do anything for me.
I get where you are coming from. There is a comp going on until sometime in April you might like. It is based around layering (used in games music). Although aimed at their games and film scoring courses, it is free and with some prizes. You have to sign up, no obligation to get the comp link. 15. I believe there is some old Talkbass thread somewhere talking about Dennis Bellfields involvement in the Candi version. Producer/Engineer Bobby Owsinski talks about the Synth on the Bee Gee's track. http://bobbyowsinski.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/bee-gees-nights-on-broadway.html Original Instrumental multi track here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7DA3ZM7BuY

Yet another Compressor - Worth a go in my opinion. Mac/PC x32/x64 http://www.audiodamage.com/downloads/product.php?pid=ADF002
17.
This is my favourite version.
Never heard that before - Great version.
18.
There's some processing no doubt, but they are real performances, the things that tell me so are lip syncing (no one is that good) and dynamics.
All very real indeed. - There is no Autotune, or Melodyne for that matter. Compression yep, maybe some chorus or ADT of some kind during the chorus (more than likely just from a foot pedal) Believe it or not, there are some folks out there who have good ranges and can sing in tune... Not every one is a Pro Tool....
19.
so the question is , can I sing opera
No....... But you can come close if you dress up as a m***er. Borrow your wife's bra and stuff it with two footballs, wear a Viking helmet and scream while you stand to the left hand side of your living room.
20.
Probably best to stick with one DAW that does what you want from the beginning. Many are available with a free 30 day trial download so you can try a few. Paul
Agreed Find a DAW with a work flow that is good for you. As mentioned, they all (mostly) do demo versions, and quite often the full version.
21. The Crusaders - Those Southern Nights. "Pops" Popwell on Bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUHUNbzhPQI&list=PLC17EEAF42CFB5B60
22. Quincy Jones 'You've Got It Bad Girl' http://www.discogs.com/Quincy-Jones-Youve-Got-It-Bad-Girl/release/842428
23. Sorry, I was not being clear. This is assuming you have not gone over with the recording, and the file is good, but quite hot, say -3/-6 or whatever. It seems trim on the DAW or as a plug in can be useful for gain staging (one way or another). Sorry for the thread jack folks, carry on... I found an article here about it. http://www.harmonyce...g/ba-p/34646453 And a video. http://therecordingr...-plugins-video/
