2. Are you going from Komplete 6 to Komplete 9 [Upgrade] ? Or Komplete 6 to Komplete 9 Ultimate [Crossgrade] ? There is a [big] difference in price. Possible that GAK have got it wrong [give them a call] To be honest, the guys over at NI are pretty good to deal with on the phone. http://www.native-in...any/contact-ni/ Absolute Music price for Komplete xxx to Komplete 9 Ultimate gives you an idea. 6.
Mind for gigs I'm driving the van, so no alcohol after gigs either
Do you do the humping as well ? [Gear I mean] Garry
 7.
I don't know if this is the case today, but years ago some shipping lines treated the musicians as crew and you weren't even allowed to mix with the passengers or even on passenger decks.
Still the same these days I believe. On some of these short ferry crossing gigs [and major cruises], you are considered crew [always on call] therefore if any emergencies pop up, you would be expected to do your bit [Sober] What about Oil rig work ? thats no booze, is it not ? and for longer stints.
Just to reitterate here, the question is whether this is the norm
As has been said a few times on the thread - On Ferry crossings, or the short trips up to Northern Europe, Yep it can be the norm, or at least does happen. Garry
 8. That room looks [and should sound fantastic]. He also Composer some very stunning, melodic and moving music. Very talented person. Garry
 9. I should imagine you are going to get a varied response here, regarding the headphones. Just a case of picking through the bones. I am also on the look out for some new headphones, more for composing later at night. A useful chat about various vendors going on here. 10.
I lived there for 4 years, its an amazing country
Yes, fantastic.... Me and my wife were working there, only six months, but loved every minute. Garry
 11.
Samba Samba Samba
I have been to one of the Carnivals - It's mad time... Garry
 12.
Its a showcase for his expertise, no doubt he is a top player regarding other genres on the bass that would pluck up the ears of the critics on here. I thought he was Impressive.
I agree. It's not just an exercise, it's a toone from start to finish. The guys got chops/ears for a tune, and he is articulated musically. At 02:10 it gets a little sloppy for a few bars, although that might be that envelope filter not responding fast enough. But so what, he's doing his thing. It sounds like it has all come naturally. Someone above has said where's da funk gone ? The original was not funk, just a bit of Nu Disco [and great it was] with Nile doing his bit. Good stuff.
 13.
Changing keys is a bit X factor for me. Why do they always notch it up at the end. It does my head in. 19.
Here is that Steps Ahead track I was talking about: Beirut.. Listen to Brecker's EWI solo at 3.40 and Manieri's synth vibe solo at 5.40. And Daryl Jones munching throughout.
This track still sounds great ! Victor Bailey on Bass though, and co wrote If I remember correctly [I need to check CD credits though] And the Mike Stern track is another favourite of mine. 21.
That studio trainer site doesn't make any attempt to try and correct or mitigate those issues....
It was just a link for some tips, or something that might come in useful to some folks, or just to browse around. http://www.homestudiotrainer.com/ But hey ho..... Garry
 22. Neat little site here - Home Studio Trainer. http://www.homestudiotrainer.com/yourroom.htm Garry
 23. I would not get carried away with one gig, where the Guitarist does over the top solos. Does it work over a few gigs ? Or will it end up doing your head in ? Leave it as it is, you now have a couple of Guitarists to cover the gig.
 24.
Indeed...
One persons few, is not another persons few. Regarding the OP - It does happen, but is not the norm [It's usually the Ferry Crossing gigs] Done many Cruise ship gigs around the World and there was never a zero no booze policy, and there are few others on this forum who have done the same cruises - folk tend to be responsible [full off the rails occasionally] However I did a couple of the short two week crossings, back and forth from Spain & France with a zero booze policy, and on both occasions a Muso was sent home for boozing. If you like a drink, stay away from the [OP] gig - There is always someone willing to grass you up. I ain't drunk booze for around ten years, so it would not bother me... However these days, the gig would.... Garry
 25. This thread is a great read, it's really getting out there. It's only about twelve bars from Mars.... Garry
