1. Thanks for all the nice comments folks, It was a good month and some great tracks up there. It was a bit of a tough call voting, but I got there in the end, someone really surprised me with something out of the blue. 70's was a great time for clubs and tripping over handbags (not mine) in search of one night of beer goggled fumbles.
 2.
'tweren't that funny anyway...
Too modest..
 3.
Rach had the temerity to die later than the featured composers, so it's probably a copyright thing.
Just been reading up on Rach, yep he died in the 40's,. Very, interesting read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Rachmaninoff
 4.
Yup here's mary had a little lamb.. 64-62-60-62-64-64-64-62-62-62-64-67-67-64-62-60-62-64-64-64-62-62-64-62-60-
Few seconds, but I am there.............
 5. Thank's for that - I noticed there was no Rachmaninoff there ? Mind you, you would need hands like shovels (Left hand anyway) I also wish there was somewhere I could grab some Dave Grusin piano parts. Garry
 6.
Those settings map to the notches on the arm of a traditional mechanical metronome, so Korg are following that. My electronic metronome (also a Korg, I think) can flip between adjusting by these traditional steps or in increments of 1. As mentioned, unlike modern click tracks, those metronomes were never designed to be used in performance, and it was always implicit that a real-world performance of a piece marked as say MM=120 would be performed "somewhere in the region of" 120 bpm.
Spot on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metronome Garry
 7.
+1
Hey Simon, just been looking at your web pages and noticed the 'Carlsbro Cobra 90' Me and my brother used one as a shared second amp for years. It had fallen off the back of trucks, soaked in beer in dodgy pubs, been thrown off airplanes, nicked and recovered by the Police, seen action in Abbey Road studios, borrowed by several other Bass players It had a life of it's own - And it was second hand when we got it, also with some previous history....It had never let anyone down. Apparently it was twenty years old when it died. Garry
 8.
Is there any software which can simulate completely fresh material to read?
Not sure if you have any notation programmes or not ? But if not, download Finale notepad (free) There are a couple of others as well (Google] http://www.finalemus...finale-notepad/ Then Google for free MIDI files (there are thousands out there) You can then import the MIDI file into Finale, and you would have as much new material as you want, in various keys, time signatures, styles etc. And of course you can change into any key and tempo, also mute the Bass track so you can play along to/with the rest of the Instruments. You can also tidy up the part with articulations/repeats/codas etc. Garry
 9.
or the tack in general
I suppose that's one way of looking at our music.... Only kidding....
 10.
Have mention these a few times on here and I know you lot don't give a sh*t about them, but Vulfpeck have a new single coming out v soon..... ....Enjoy haters
I like this band, it kinda of reminds me of 70's TV sound tracks (which I love) Just been listening to Vollmilch. 11.
Off on a tangent somewhat, I thought this article on SoundCloud about creating music with constraints was quite interesting. And I think creative collaboration could be fun, too. Just a thought... http://tinyurl.com/p8fxloj
I wonder if Madeleine is up for some group action...?
 12.
Gband is cool as long as its for home learning etc.
Actually you can do an awful lot with Garageband, if you get into it there is a lot under the hood with the instruments available. and I don't mean using (supplied] loops. A couple of examples from someone on YouTube. 14.
Channel 5 will be commissioning a documentary about this...
That would be after Charic has used it for his September slide show.
 15. Oh lordy, lordy....................................... What a great idea.....

 17.
you should have been here when it was a 13 minute video
I was - And did the download, It came in at 100 meg, as an AVI HD... Took the time to eat my Frankfurter toasty while downloading.
 18. Wow, a lot of white flags already.. You mission, if you choose to accept it.....six minutes of media music. The way i see it..... treat it just as that, six minutes of media music, not twelve 30 second songs stitched together Load the Video/slide show, put in markers on your time line/bar lines for the picture change so you know where you are, and make one picture flow into the next..be it, a mood change, style change, key change or a variation on a theme[s] or whatever. Out of your comfort zone...maybe...out of this world...no!!.... You ain't gonna die.... Garry
 19. Twelve minutes is a lot of music - chances are some DAW's will freeze or fall over, depending on your computer spec of course. In real life scoring, video is cut down into sections/cues of maybe a minute or two, etc. It would have been better to have made it around six minutes long, say thirty second for each picture. And somewhere to host and download in Quicktime formate [smaller files]. Just throwing in some ideas (All IMO of course) and thinking of ways to make it easier for folks to get involved. I have downloaded the original video that was posted up on you tube, and it came in at about 100 meg AVI So I have converted into a Quicktime .Mov (A lot smaller file) and it works fine. But whatever is easiest for Charic, because it seems he has put some work into this. Garry
 20.
The piece should be no more than 5 minutes long and should be composed and recorded in the same month as the piece in question. Yeah... I'm a git!
? Garry
 21. Quite a bit of Ethnic music is improvised, at times over a (Bass) drone, leaving plenty of freedom. Then there is Rhythm from percussion instruments (with various time sigs) and varying tunings/pitch from very low to quite high. Seems like they have everything covered to me, and without the aid of a twelve bar
 22. Great stuff dude, and the video is cool. The Drummer has a nice "on it" style. Garry
 23. I suppose you could get an Amp that has less power than Terra Bass 500 head, then you could turn it up to eleven, that should impress the guys in your band. Garry
 24. Donald Fagen - Night Fly (on vinyl)
 25. I think it's a classy, big occasion, American show business over the top arrangement, with plenty of passion and energy, and it came over that way. Top marks to the arranger, musicians and all the singers. Good stuff.
