1.
NIce one Garry, I spotted this too. Unusual to see this being done like auditions... perhaps they see that they can avoid a fixers fee? I'm sure they'll be inundated.
It is unusual Jake, but does happen on the odd occasion if the band will be on stage. And as you say, possibly the fixing fee as well. Garry
 2. For any of you folk's who want to enter more comp's, here is a good one.......... and with prizes - One of which is free access for a year to the Groove3 video training site. The site is called 'Home Studio Trainer' and there is plenty of useful stuff there along with a few freebies, Well worth signing up to. 3. I thought i would pass this on to Basschat. You would have to join up to Music Jobs Uk - But you could take just a months subscription to get the full details [This site is very useful anyway] Looks like they will looking for a Double Bassist for a West End show opening next year. 4.
I tend to use Kontakt for anything DimPro would have been used for.
Yep, i use Kontakt to. But for someone on a budget, or no budget, the Dim Pro Synth at £15.00 can come in very handy - better sounds than the basic GM sounds that come with most DAW's. A bit of work with Eq and reverbs etc, you can make anything sound half decent. Garry
 5.
it looks great , is it easy (ish) to use , I am really struggling with midi stuff , the penny just wont drop , my sounds are currently made with a synth that I press the keys and make the sounds in real time , the programming stuff does my head in , is this a program that will help ? Ps I know that I should be able to use the keyboard as a midi controller , but I cant make it happen
Well it comes with a huge amount of pre sets, making things easier. What DAW are you using ? someone on BC will be able to help you with setting up your keyboard for sending and receiving MIDI, and channels on your DAW etc. Garry
 6. For £14.99 Dimension Pro sound module VSTi with 7gig of sounds. Great all round Synth. with lots of add on packs going cheap as well. 7.
....is driving me nuts. Trouble is, the customer support takes a minimum of 24 hours to respond to every question. I aks a question today, I get a response tomorrown that I cannot action until three days later which them doesn't work so I ask another question, wait another 24 hours and so on..... After this month's Composition competition, I realised I needed to up my game in terms of better VSTs. The thing is, I have a truckload on my PC that I have never even opened so I went back to IK Multimedia and the emailed me the Authohrisation Manager so I can access them but my PC just spits the damn thing out (my music PC is NOT on-line so I can't use the AM on-line, obviously but I also cannot open it in off line mode because it won't open. AAAAARGH!!) Another two hours of my life gone on uncooperative IT.
A no brainer deal going on for the next couple of days at Cakewalk. Easy installation, just a registration and a serial number. Seven gig of very, very useful all round sounds, and easy to work. Dimension Pro VSTi dropped to just fifthteen quid. Might be just what you need, rather than messing with the limited LE/Demo versions of the IK stuff. 12.
Hello, not been on here for a while been trying to get my head around Sonar, just thought I would whack one out when I saw the pics , tpics and me and my missus couldn't Done with Sonar and some loops that came with it, also found a pitch shifter had some fun with that, a
Stephen, how are you getting on with Sonar ? is it the X2 version ? Just been watching some [Sonar X2] Youtube stuff, that Pro Channel looks great...... Garry
 13. Question for the folks who use headphones for reference and some alt mixing......... Anyone use Paradox Audio phones ? A friend of mine has a pair, [which i am going to try during the week] He raves about them in a big way, and there seems to be good reviews around Just curious for another point of view. 14.
Great suggestions Paul and Garry - I'll have a look at those myself - my sample library is groaning with stuff at the moment but one of the cool sources for me has been Future Music and Computer Music magazines as each month they come with a DVD with about 8GB of content on - admittedly it tends to be on the electronic side of things but it's worth a look once in a while: http://www.musicradar.com/futuremusic It's also costs money... but hey thought I'd mention it - they often have useful tutorials and other stuff like pesky gear reviews that make you spend more money
Mike, I mentioned earlier about the chopping and moving around in Stylus RMX. Small tutorial here - well worth a look. http://www.spectrasonics.net/products/stylusrmx-videos.php In fact 4 pages of RMX video tutorials here. RMX is such a powerful tool, and there is dozens of libraries out there. 17.
So, does anyone know how it's played? The whole track is fine, it's just that one little bit right at the very start.
This might help...although it is a bit of a handfull, best done on keys - two hands needed, unless you sequence it. Synth intro Main Bass Synth line. 19.
Yes. Yes. Yes. I read a review which compared it to Hall & Oates but I heard it as Steely Dan. I have to say I LOVE this album I will be listening to this album for most of the summer but I reckon I'll be revisiting early Daft Punk, Donald Fagen and a whole host of goodies with John Robinson on :-)
My take as well. 20. A bit of a rush this month, but just made it, it seems.... 60's/70's sleazy New York cop theme. http://soundcloud.co...-in-the-village Garry
 21.
Realistically, £800 - £1,000 per month.
Pro shows - you can earn between £600/£1,000 pw [company dependent], or course ex's on top of that to take off. Not the gig for everyone, but on the plus side you can dep out and do other stuff. Even a Full on Panto for a few weeks over the winter/xmas period can earn you between £400/£600.00 pw, again depending on the company you work for. All hard work but worth it, and you get to meet plenty of Musicians and MD's. Garry
 22.
Can't really figure out what Daft Punk are doing on most of the tracks on the album... guess they just sit and watch!
And learning. Great track, and Nile Rodgers still grooving away. Garry
 23.
Everyone judges by different criteria I reckon , the subtlety of whether there is too heavy compression or over aggressive gating will not even get recognised by some.
+1 If it comes over as Musical and pleasant to the ears, people will more than likely go for it. I for one always take great interest in Si's comments and summing up on these mix get togethers. A lot of you folk put plenty of time and effort into this, so i hope people vote for the right reasons. Garry
 24. Voted.... Well done people all round, three i really liked - One just pinched it. Garry
