3.
Here is that Steps Ahead track I was talking about: Beirut.. Listen to Brecker's EWI solo at 3.40 and Manieri's synth vibe solo at 5.40. And Daryl Jones munching throughout.
This track still sounds great ! Victor Bailey on Bass though, and co wrote If I remember correctly [I need to check CD credits though] And the Mike Stern track is another favourite of mine. 5.
That studio trainer site doesn't make any attempt to try and correct or mitigate those issues....
It was just a link for some tips, or something that might come in useful to some folks, or just to browse around. http://www.homestudiotrainer.com/ But hey ho..... Garry
 6. Neat little site here - Home Studio Trainer. http://www.homestudiotrainer.com/yourroom.htm Garry
 7. I would not get carried away with one gig, where the Guitarist does over the top solos. Does it work over a few gigs ? Or will it end up doing your head in ? Leave it as it is, you now have a couple of Guitarists to cover the gig.
 8.
Indeed...
One persons few, is not another persons few. Regarding the OP - It does happen, but is not the norm [It's usually the Ferry Crossing gigs] Done many Cruise ship gigs around the World and there was never a zero no booze policy, and there are few others on this forum who have done the same cruises - folk tend to be responsible [full off the rails occasionally] However I did a couple of the short two week crossings, back and forth from Spain & France with a zero booze policy, and on both occasions a Muso was sent home for boozing. If you like a drink, stay away from the [OP] gig - There is always someone willing to grass you up. I ain't drunk booze for around ten years, so it would not bother me... However these days, the gig would.... Garry
 9. This thread is a great read, it's really getting out there. It's only about twelve bars from Mars.... Garry
 10. With you on this one, I love the guys playing and general feel for music, always have. Garry
 11.
Didn't do anything for me musically or otherwise. She can certainly sing a lot better than she can play guitar. As for the drummer....meh!
Yep, I agree with that.
 12.
You could always get an upright, then people won't compare you to anyone at all.
Apart from Bilbo of course. Garry
 13.
Its natural to check out the opposite sex and if they are doing something that you have an interest in, all the better.
Sir Thomas Beecham thought so to. To a female cellist in rehearsal: "Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands - and all you can do is scratch it." Garry
 14. I Just put butter on mine, it always comes home. Garry
 15.
Feeling quite nostalgic now... Ed
Yep... Huge sound from those Acoustic rigs. Late 70's early 80's for me as well - I had also got my first [pre EB] Stingray at that time, it was a classic set up for me. Garry
 16.
When I lived in South London I knew "Chinese Elvis" he lived near me and had a restaurant in Old Kent Road He was quite the TV celebrity in the 1990's/early 00's!
I remember him..and that restaurant. I lived just up the the road. It was a mad house with all those hen parties and girls night themes going on.... Garry
 17.
Maybe we could have a new thread on that theme ?
Indeed.... Club Tropicana has nice Bass. Shame about the awful 30 second intro of crickets doing what crickets do. Garry

 19.
As soon as I get ink for my printer that'll be framed and on the wall!
Just learn it, then there is no need to read it again. Garry
 20. 70's New York City Night life - The City that never sleeps. My take for this month. http://soundcloud.com/garrycribb/club-retro-75 Garry
 21.
I had the pleasure of meeting Andy last night - he's still got it
Was this the gig Sutton football club [Boom Boom Club] ? A friend of mine was there, and said he enjoyed it. Garry
 22.
Why does nobody ever mention Andy Fraser from Free in these posts...he's up there with the best but maybe a bit before a lot of people's time.
Maybe up until your post in this thread, he has not been mentioned. But AF gets plenty of love on Basschat, and quite rightly so. Garry
 23. Marcus Miller, apart from his own Band[s] also a lot of material when he was in the David Sanborn Band, plus songs for various artists and some film and TV work. Stanley Clarke, once again in all his own bands, plus quite a bit of film scoring. Jimmy Haslip, wrote quite a bit in the Yellow Jackets. Kyle Eastwood, his own band as well as some film scoring. Garry
 24.
I think it looks f*****g weird watching a band with no amps
I know what you mean, it kinda reminds me of the Stonehenge scene, when looking at a lonely little POD on the floor.
