If you want to go to £83.00 [download price] new kid on the block [b]'Notion 4'[/b] It comes with a very nice sample library - And all the Instruments are mapped out to staffs, so no setting up. It is very easy to use and has Jazz fonts as well as all the usual engraving fonts. All dynamic and articulation markings are mapped to the samples, so you will get a great idea of how it will really sound. Especially useful on Orchestral or Big Band arranging. I have been using Sibelius up until now, but not sure where future upgrades are going now that the London office has been shut down. I would not put the score to 'West Side Story' towards the worst in Music, opinions of course. Although i have spent most of my Musical career playing on shows, which has always been a good time, I find it impossible to watch them, Theatre or on film. Garry

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding on K-Metering set up in this thread. Some folk using it [or intending to] might find it useful to go over the to website of Bob Katz. It is reasonably involved to work correctly if you don't know what you are doing [and i did not] I had a friend set it up for me - And i remember it involved downloading pink noise files, and monitor calibration. But i ain't no sound engineer, so might be talking bollox. Garry

I also use Predator for most of my Bass Synth stuff [mainly because it has a huge preset collection] Two good [free] Synths that are good for Bass. Charlatan 32 & 64 bit.
