Just copy and paste the address from Youtube straight into your post. I think you are allowed two videos in each post. Garry

I said you would be fine, well done dude. Ella tunes badly arranged - that sounds like the norm When you hit the EB next, it will feel like you are playing cotton wool. Garry
Pre gig nerves never really get me. I sometimes wish they did. I think it'd give me a much needed boost up the arse! Day two in the woodshed: Half of the set is kind of cool. Half of my prep time has gone. I think that's kinda alright? Tomorrow I've got a rehearsal (not for this gig unfortunately - No rehearsal is being had for this one at all!) so will be against the clock then to get the db out when back in the house after the other rehearsal. I may take the db to the rehearsal just so I'm getting my hours up on the thing.
Go for It. I was in the same position some time ago. I had about three/four weeks to get it together. Although i did know all the tunes anyway [Medium Jazz Swing/Bossa's] it meant just concentrating On fingerings and Intonation. It was for an old dears end of Pier tea dance, So two in the bar all the way. It went ok and nobody died [not in the band anyway] Down side - I ended up doing every Wednesday afternoon for three months......... On an end of Pier tea dance for the old dears. Good luck, i am sure you will be fine. Garry
This is the G&L Tribute L2000 that i just traded. Had to wait about 3 weeks for the new DR strings to lose their zippiness. Grabbed a midi file of Grover Washington Jnr track, Just The Two of Us, and played along to the keys and drums part. Only for a minute or so... http://soundcloud.co...wo-of-us-grover
The G&L sounds nice, always liked the sound of them [made a mistake in selling mine] I think the notes in the bridge section should be semitones descending from the Db, [That's what Marcus plays on the original] Tenths work nicely. Good stuff though. Garry
It's possible they both came up with it separately. Fender used to fit a tug bar to their basses, you'd hook your fingers under it and play the strings with your thumb. It's not such a big step to slap the strings occasionally, particularly since players have been doing it on upright basses for years.
I believe Colin Hodgkinson was also doing it about the same time as well. Garry

They both have got different styles, and both great and on it. LJ's playing at the time he was working with Quincy Jones was just killer. LJ was more than just thunder thumbs. He had great tight finger style tone as well. [Oh well he has a slap up in the middle section ] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EvWkUuALGg Garry
Wouldnt want to split hairs, nor argue with wikipedia... which is always right But I clearly remember hearing Cyndi Lauper being interviewed on the radio, on a Saturday afternoon when the single was current. and stating how much she dug the Roy Orbison track, and reasons why she covered it etc etc Orbison was a little bit out of fashion at the time I think..
Well she must have heard it somewhere, but Orbison's version was released in the early 90's. Don't know about Wiki - but Disc dogs...which is always right.. Says................ http://www.discogs.com/Roy-Orbison-I-Drove-All-Night/release/949041# Both good versions IMO. Garry
Neither of em wrote it, but Roy Orbinson released it first So there.... .... I think !
Can i join in ? Your both wrong - Orbinson recorded it first [written for him supposedly] but it was released a couple of years after Cyndi's released version. Not sure who wrote it. Garry
The biggest good news for me though is that Celemony have fixed the memory leak in Melodyne and after some pestering the techs there I got upgraded to melodyne2 for free!!! I am back in love with my DAW!
Built Into Studio One... I suppose at the end of the day they all do the same thing In the end - Its just what we do with them.. Garry
Sonar X1 producer edition is what I use - used all versions from Sonar5 onwards.....it comes in a cheaper flavour (Studio) and is simple and easy to learn. It's 64bit native too (which means projects can be huge - I now see 6-7Gb of RAM dedicated to projects regularly!) and was the first DAW to go 64bit... in the X1D release I have yet to suffer a crash! http://www.cakewalk....Products/SONAR/
My son has been using this - He did have a nightmare until the "D" Patch came out. All kinds of bugs and strange things going on. But it seems to be running ok now. The Pro Channel is neat, and he loves those four extra PC modules, especially the EQ one. Good stuff. Garry
You might want to give this a try http://studioone.presonus.com/free/ You can always upgrade to a paid-for version as and when. I've got the full version (though I mainly use Logic) and it's as good, if not better than a lot of its competitors.
I have been using this for a few months [Producer Edition] and it is fantastic ! It really is the easiest DAW in the world to use. Robust - I have not had one crash or freeze. Only a couple of downers for me - Video support is only x32 [at the moment] And no Midi score editor, again no big deal [ i just go back into Cubase for any of that stuff] For Interface - It has been this for me, solid as a rock [Roland Quad Capture] http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1166 Garry

Low budget high quality home studios for media composing is the norm these days. Computer processing and huge amounts of RAM around these days for little outlay, means the large Orchestral/Cinematic/Rock libraries are very easy to run. 200-400 Midi tracks is not unusual for a mock up before going to the scoring stage. Producers/Directors are kept up to date note by note, bar by bar every step of the the scoring process. Because the quality of the samples libraries around, they have a great idea how the finished product will sound. "Trillion" from the OP has been around for quite a while, and used on a lot of TV stuff for Bass tracks. It has many Bass Guitar and Synth Bass patches. It's not unusual for a mock up cue [or some of it] to be used on the final Score. Check out the demos from this company 8Dio. All Virtual.
