http://basschat.co.u...o-one-free-daw/ Garry

 5. Hey Mike I know you like using Ableton. A friend of mine plays Drums for Howard Jones. He is here with Robbie Bronniman in a video explaining their use of Ableton for the current tour. And how they reconstructed HJ's first two Albums using Live. 6. Not sure if this had been posted before, but type this into Youtube......... 'Bass Players Wanted....Hilarious' Its the second video down. To much bad language to post the link. Plenty of others there to, band with pub landlord is worth a look.. Garry
 7.
You can also use a MIDI controller, or your computer keyboard, or a keyboard to play a pattern with the track armed and recording - you can then quantize the parts as much or as little as you need to and then even write in more complex bits and bobs into it in the piano roll view...
Yep, of course - also use your iPad as a controller as well with iTeleport. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkRuVxZAFy4 Garry
 8. Once you have the Synth/VSTi [EZdrummer] inserted in ProTools [Or any DAW] and a Midi track assigned, you can just write in a drum part in the Piano roll view, or the score/editor view. 10.
Beat me, Daddio, eight to the bar. .. or don't people tend to say that any more?
Two dead and one nearly dead say it on Youtube, and great stuff it is. A serious Girl band... A plink, a plank...........a plinker planker plinker planker [i think that's what they are saying] Garry
 11. Presonus Studio One V2 now have a free version of their DAW. It really is the easiest thing in the world to use and totally gapless for working on the fly. Has limitations, but a great way to get your Audio or Bass ideas down or something to think about new DAW wise I think it might have an upgrade path for the larger versions. Feature list. http://studioone.presonus.com/what-are-the-versions/ Download here. http://studioone.presonus.com/free/ Tutorial links. 12.
Also, why are a collective of young men or women who sing simple harmonies on stage called boy/girl "bands"? Surely a band has to play instruments of some kind?
I have often wondered that, and would call them a Herd of simple harmony singers, but then again how do you define an Instrument ? A scalpel is an Instrument. So i suppose a voice is an Instrument - any Classical singers i have worked with, call their voice and Instrument. Garry
 13. Good news - what was the problem? Garry
 14. I believe the Church also lay claim to 'Numbers' back yonder - Hymns were numbered [still are] Passengers yelling 'Number xx' at William Hartley has a nice 100 year urban Myth touch though. Garry
 15.
I hate people that call songs "numbers" like for example... "they played Stray Cats numbers..." I mean wtf?
Comes from days gone by. IE - On the Titanic gig, the band had to learn around 300 songs. The songs were listed and numbered in a pamphlet given to the passengers. The band played in various rooms around the ship all day long. Passengers would choose a song from the pamphlet, walk up and shout out the number to the Band leader, who shouted the 'Number' to the band. True that.................... Although Joe public and TV presenters would not have a fecking clue were it came from. Very much like me - who has just heard it on a TV programme about the 'Titanic' Musicians playing on board ship, Garry
 16. What DAW are you using ? Out of interest, why are using ASIO4all drivers ? Does the unit not come with it's own ASIO drivers ? What do you mean by nothing happens ? Gives us all bit more info and i am sure someone might be able to help. Garry
 17.
Anything really - so long as it's not accordion or bagpipes.
Along with Incest and Morris Dancing. Garry
 18. Trombone - Piano - Bass. Picked up Guitar along the way. The Bone has only recently appeared from the case after about 20 years. My seven year old son has started farting around with it, although he thinks of it as some kind of futuristic weapon and will take out some ones eye soon with the slide. [Not unlike me really] Garry
 19.
Maybe if you did bash one out on your BIG ORGAN he wouldn't ask again...
But of course that might be the cue for his wife to start asking... 'Are you going to bash one out on your BIG ORGAN - again...? please ' Garry
 20.
Also, the awful diminishment of prefixing the name of the instrument with 'the', usually said by non-musicians. For example 'Ah! So you play the piano!'
You might want to meet my annoying neighbour, who points to our baby grand and always comments bang on cue...... 'What about banging out something on THE big Organ of yours' He laughs his stupid ugly head off, and his lovely charming wife dies of embarrassment. Garry
 21.
dont know how to put vidoes on, but the theme from the paradise club,tv series with dirty den, not the film was a quite good with the music themes,
If you have the link - just copy and paste into your text box. Would love to hear it, i can't find it anywhere on Youtube. Garry
 22.
'Talking about music is like dancing about architecture' - Steve Martin
Steve keeps good company these days [always has i suppose] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jn3KCZEqxc Garry
 23.
A little bit harsh don't you think? This thread is no more pointless than 'wealthiest bassists' or the one on growing chilis. It's merely a musical conversation piece. Dan
Sorry Dan, i was not being harsh or trying to offend. Dudes & Cats, that's all. Garry
 24. Hey dude - you and the cat on six strings need to get a life. Garry
