1. Yep, great stuff. Have been listening to DF's Night Fly album the last couple of days, and that is one of my Magic moment CD's. Garry
 2.
The Samuel Adler is a brilliant book
This really is a classic, very detailed but so easy to follow. Garry
 3.
Maynard Ferguson's Solo at the beginning of Gospel John
That is great. The Piano playing and composing skills of Dave Grusin ... The opening section of 'On Golden Pond' such a moving bit of music. Garry
 4. The opening bars of the World at War Series.... And for some pathetic reason 'Miles' first couple of bars on this. Garry
 5. I cut mine down to only Two. [Well three, Charlie Parker Omni book in Bass clef] Mark Levine & Samual Adler. The Samual Adler book is ongoing for me. Mark Levine book i poke into every now and then. I seem to get more out of transcribing these days. Garry
 6. As a freelancer, for me my essentials are.... Volume pedal, Sans Amp DI, Tuner. I have the rest, Chorus, Octave pedal etc. But will only take or use them if i know they are [really] needed. I keep it lean and clean and as less fussy as i can, mainly because its then a hassle free time with the engineer. Garry
 7. 'Magic' Musical moments in pop history - I was talking to someone yesterday about that very thing. Something magical to ones self is not always magical to others. I think that chord unites everyone and goes down in Music folk law. Would be interesting to see what other 'moments' people on this forum can come up with. Garry
 8.
3 plus the producer....simples
It seems to have turned into anything but simple over the years... Garry
 9.
So, now we know. Its G, C F A and D. In theoretical terms its a voicing of a F6/9 chord (F, G, A, C and D = i, III, V, VI & II (IX)). Paul played the D, which is the relative minor.
So its a case of how many Beatles does it take to play a Jazz chord [D Minor7 add 11] ? Garry

 13.
I always get mine form the same eBay store - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Babz-Media/DURACELL-PROCELL-BATTERIES-/ £7.49 for 10 Duracell Procells. More you buy cheaper they are as well. I've been using them for all batteries for about 18 months now. Generally arrive within 2 days, often next day and usually free delivery too!
Thanks for the link, going to order some stuff later. It also looks a handy place to get tools for the Cat Burglar business. Garry
 14.
60's boyband. No big deal.
A popular beat combo i believe , M'lud. Or is just urban myth, M'lud. Garry
 15.
Still a bit early for me, but you go ahead!
Stopped years ago mate. Otherwise i would have taken you up ! Garry
 16.
Buying a bass is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman. Only go with the ones you like, for whatever you reason you like them... When you go off them for whatever reason, pass them on.
Beer goggles John. Garry

 21.
Ah, yes, it has Studio One - the reviews I read must have been out of date. O_o
And it is great. Enjoy. Garry
 22.
Thanks everyone. I think I'll go with the Presonus. We have an 8 input Saffire for "bigger" recordings. i'm not overly concerned with vocals, since I'll be mainly doing instrumentals/sketches to share with the band. I like the idea of Cubase LE too (which is bundled) since we do most of our mixing/production in Cubase proper.
Is it not their own DAW [Studio One] bundled with the Presonus ? Garry
 23. The [original fake book] standards where usually from Hollywood & Broadway show tunes, Tin pan alley etc. Pop tunes of the time. Or as the Americans call it - The great American song book.... Garry
 24.
Wow, it really looks like that for the price, there anything that can beat it! Thanks for the tip, this might well have to be purchased...
It's a great little box. As a bonus it comes with a version of Studio One, A total gapless Daw - it might turn your head a bit and turn you on to the full version.... It really is the easiest DAW of them all to use. Another great unit to recommend... Roland Quad Capture. 25.
Lee always puts amazing bands together. Check this one out, Abe Laboriel on bass and Perry singing, absolutely amazing stuff.
LR & Dave Grusin video with Abe Laboriel is another good one. Garry
