Wanted to say that i tried to upload a track to Soundcloud. It was an .mp3 that i had ripped from YouTube - so not great quality. I then EQd the original bass out as much as possible and played a bass track alongside using CUBASE Did a quick mix - exported as an .mp3 and tried to upload to Soundcloud. The upload completed and then there was a scary message, something like, "Soundcloud has detected that this track has copyright" - etc the upshot being that i couldn't upload it. This isn't a whinge as i understand why artists want to copyright stuff - but this is a 30 year old disco track that wasn't very popular when it was released. I have managed to upload (more popular) tracks in the past. Is this something new?
What you have done in theory [and you are not alone by any means] Is trying to Sync someone else's [published?] Music to your own new project/content etc. [that's the way Soundcloud digital ID will see it anyway] You would have to get 'A Master Use' license from the record company or Music owner[s] On another note Monetization through Youtube is becoming quite a good source of revenue, now that the various performing rights organisations have struck up deals and are collecting from Youtube. So yes its getting tougher to do what you want, although Soundcloud/Youtubes digital ID system is still pretty flawed at the moment. Garry
The music, good, great bass lines. However, we must consider the 'fashion' of the time. It has been my long held opinion that the clothes one had to wear in the 70's and early 80's has scared a generation
I was there - i have the wardrobe scars [and a Jazz Bass] to prove it.
Marcus is a legend. The live bass sound is absolutely huge.
Agreed - i have seen him a few times, and it has always been that. One time in Germany, i was a few feet away from the stage, and was amazed how hard and controlled he was when attacking the strings with his thumb - certainly not afraid to give it some. Garry
