A DAW is a DAW - work flow comes into play really when it comes to choice. These days all the more well known Vendors all pretty much do the same. Its then down to what they come with FX/Synth wise, or Video & Scoring wise, and Nuendo for post production etc. Audio cards are what the sound quality is all about for budget/project studios. Of course Pro Tools HD and the Radar systems are another matter. Been using Cubase for years and feel like trying something new [Just Gas more than likely] Pro-Tools 10 does look interesting, but i am holding back for the moment, Digital Performer 8 for W7 PC is out soon, and i have always liked the idea with that.[Mac only up till now] Great Midi & Video/Scoring side to it. Enjoy your Pro Tools, be interesting to see how you get on with it Charic.

Well the OP was asking about good swing, playing the standards on EB. Monk M did just that, played with many top Jazzers on Electric in the late 50's and through the 60's. His 70's stuff was more Funk/fusion, which i was not that keen on. He was a solid Swing Bassist, no raking triplets and sixteen kicks every other bar - just straight down the middle. Some folk just swing regardless of it being Electric or Upright, Monk was one of them. Other's can stand in front of a fake book all day & everyday until the cows come home. Buckets of sh*te, a sea of Mars bars come to mind Garry

Monk Montgomery [Brother of Wes] All standards on a P Bass, then later on, he used a Jazz Bass. He had no problem Swinging. All [late] 50's 60's and 70's. Just google him, plenty of stuff about. Garry

What was the guys name ? I also had two sixes made by Jeff, Fretted & Fretless. This was around 88/89 I was [am] very close friends with Jeff, although i have not spoken to him since last year. He lives over at Clacton, but does very little Luthier work these days. Garry
