  1. Although modern Jazz, I have played the two below enough times for them to fall into that category: 'Friday Night at The Cadillac Club' and 'Walk Between the Raindrops'. Big Band vocal & instrumental versions.
  2. After his recent open letter to Ukraine's first lady, Olena Zelenska. Roger Waters should retire to a local Dog & Duck with some backing tracks.
  3. I have a Piano Sketch template in my DAW with two Pianos already loaded up. If I have a melody already in my head, that will be played into Piano one. Chords will then go into Piano two. If I'm stuck for ideas and have just been noodling around on a piano patch. I will hit retrospective record and listen back through the midi data and keep and develop anything from there. Either way, the midi date/events will be tidied up and broken down and arranged into Orchestra tracks, or Rock/ EMD/Hybrid etc I never start with drums and/or percussion, that is usually added/programmed later as I go along with the various Apps I have. Same with any other VST/Rompler Instruments that flash through my head. More recently, I have been composing in the Dorico 4 notation app (mainly the Orchestral or Jazz/Big Band pieces), and this is exported over into Nuendo for the serious work using my better libraries. I like working this way with larger tunes/orchestrations because I can easily view harmony/chord ideas and spot something I want to change pretty much straight way. Any FX, sound design or experimenting is usually done after my tune and arrangement form has been sorted out before the mixing process. Of course, if used or needed, Bass and Guitars are recorded as audio at some point. Midi controller Keyboard parts and other Instruments are usually played in even if it means tidying up afterwards. This usually keeps any dynamics and CC#'s in place. Sometimes I paint or step record notes into the DAW PRV or notation view and if using Dorico, input is a combination of step input and playing. Retrospective recording has been a very useful tool for me. Many times, it has saved the day when I think I have lost something.
  4. Ah, right, that makes sense as to why I didn't have a problem. My Interface and DAW are set at 48000 all the time.
  5. I'm not sure if you have seen this nice little freebie below?... 'Liquid Death Snare'. It's a VST3 Plugin, not a Kontakt Library. A walk through video is down the bottom of the product page. It's worth having a look at and it might be of interest. Link: Liquid Death™ Snare – Purafied Audio
  6. $55,000 High Quality Remote Control.
  7. It will be interesting to see if @ambient makes a move on it....and then, rearrange those pickups with his Hammer & Chisel.
  8. He was mentioned Very early on....
  9. It could have done with some Cowbell.
  10. Absolutely, and of course, the governor... It was that originally. You can flush my offering down the Mavis.
  11. Paul Anka = Wan**r
  12. Buddy Holly = Off his Trolley
  13. The (Barry) White Stripes ?
  14. I know the OP said new (now) but, you can't leave out Ruby (Murray) = Curry. Arthur Daley would be turning in his grave if you did...
  15. I take it that you're going to fill those holes in with cement before you gig the Instrument?
  16. I take it that you are a Blues musician? It looks like you woke up.!
  17. 'Ladi Geisler'. He certainly had the Knack for recording sessions.
  18. Sorry for the triple post, my phone went bit weird and wobbly.
  19. That's a bit unfair. Those who slag off, do so with feel.
  20. So many good performances on Da Tube but, I went for John Eliot Gardiner this morning. Excellent, although there must have been a shortage of combs, brushes and decent rugs in the dressing room that day:
  21. It's low in the mix because of the various synths overlaid. But it's there. There is an old TalkBass thread about Donna Summer and the various Bassists that recorded for her and Les pops up (again). RIP Donna Summer - The bassists thread... | TalkBass.com Also, another studio player of that time who recorded with Donna Summer, Dave King, chimes in and talks about his Bassline on "Love To Love You Baby..."
  22. There's a video of Will Lee singing 'MacArthur Park' up on YouTube. He's got some vocal chops as well..!
  23. Yes, he was a regular in a lot of the TV Orchestras back then. A terrific player and very likeable chap. Back in the 90's, there was a particular TV turn I worked for and PW depped for me a couple of times. Les Hurdle was another top UK session Bassist; Donna Summer - "I Feel Love" and "On the Radio are a couple of his Bass lines from a varied session CV from back then. I believe he was also Tomsk (The Wombles...). He now lives up some hillside near LA as a media composer. A few months back he turned up at the VI Control forum, where I asked if he had been a Womble in his past life. He owned up () and then mentioned a couple of his session exploits.
