I missed a couple of odds and sods (the odd coda and a couple of endings were imperfect)
But there aint no Coda in Jazz... Charlie parker dies and goes to hell, and the devil greets him at the gate saying, 'hey, man, hell's been getting a bad rap, it ain't so bad, check this out!" he gives bird a solid gold sax, and brings him to a session where all the best players who ever lived are burning through a smokin' chart ... and the first chair is empty. bird sits down to play, thinkin' "hmm, ya know, this sh*t ain't so bad after all!" they read through the chart, go back to the top, read through the chart again, go back to the top, bird turns to the guy sitting next to him and says "hey man, where's the coda?" and the guy says mournfully "no coda, man" ... But then you knew that Bilbo. Garry
 2.
A nice root/5th thing in the intro. And the bloke has great hair too. Otherwise, pretty awful.
Brings back memories... I did a tour playing Bass with that lot... Then went back for more a couple of years ago in Berlin to do the show 'Daddy Cool' Its about time i got myself a life me thinks. Garry
 3.
Pretty sure it isn't Pino. Wrong sound for starters, he was still Stingraying all over the place back then. Is it just me, or is there some slightly wobbly intonation in places (always sets my teeth on edge when I hear the song)..?
Sure is.. I transcribed the part last night Why? you may ask. It was that or Coronation street and Eastenders. Garry

 6.
I think it's more of a British .v. US humour (note correct spelling) thing than any disrespect or aspersion to the veracity of your post
+1 I did agree with him, and enjoyed his post. Oh well..... Garry
 7.
Now that's what I call a good reply.
I agree. And what impressed me most was that he did not say 'IMHO' once. Garry
 8.
To be blunt, if there's one thing you don't do that would be to f*** with someone's wedding plans. The bride will hound you to your grave I don't want to make a bad situation worse but two months is no time at all to book another band. Certainly round my way, the good wedding bands are booked years in advance. By trying to be helpful you've probably done a bad thing. Pull out, grovel, learn valuable lesson!
Very wise words Garry
 9.
I've had over 100 Basses through my hands in the last decade a lot of them high end instruments....
Thats a lot of Basses in ten years... What are you a Termite? If you are going custom, spend time doing a good amount of research.. Woods, pups etc... I did, and my Bass turned out to be my dream. Good luck! and i will keep my eyes open in the Basses for sale section in about a years time. Garry

 11.
The other classic is when people take all their fingers off the board to change strings.
So would you suggest never change your strings? Sorry Rich, out of context. And you are right, wasted energy indeed. Garry
 12.
Has this bass got a Jackson-style headstock (pointy)? If so, I owned this bass for a while, and it's an amazing bass.
And i owned this Bass before you several years ago... Its a bit of an ol' slapper really..... Great Bass. Garry
 13.
I thinks its awesome to show just what can be done with a bass guitar! It can be a beautiful lead instrument.
I think so to... Just a shame it seems to get such a panning on Basschat. Kevin Glasgow's arrangement of 'My Romance' sounds great. Garry
 14.
Mind you, Chet was influenced by Django...
Thats for sure. A good friend of mine from just outside Glasgee.. John Goldie, Is a very good tune/chord guitar player. If you see him around, very much worth a look. Garry
 15.
It's not a whole lot like anything Django did.
I think its his attempt at the "Django" Reinhardt" style.... Garry
 16.
Yeah that's almost exactly what I said. Funnily enough whenever I sit down in my front room for a bit of amusement with a bass it always seems to end up on YouTube. I don't know who it is that sneakily records these things but they're making innocent bassists look terribly immodest.
Only kidding mate.. I did see your point... Just could not resist. Garry
 17.
Reminds me of Chet Atkins. Neat, but can't help but think it would sound a lot better on a guitar. I'm not picking on 6-string bass, it just sounds a bit clunky to me.
6 string Bass, Clunky or not He is sitting in his frontroom and amusing himself with some chordal work, What do you want him to do...... 18. I Had to do some Brass parts from a couple of Earth Wind & Fire tunes last week, I just slowed the audio down, it made it a lot easier and quicker, i could get right in amongst the harmonies. Garry
 19. If you are having trouble hearing things... Slowdowner is good... Trial version here. http://www.ronimusic.com/ Although i think there is some free stuff about. Garry
 20. I think its his attempt at the "Django" Reinhardt" style.... the tunes are pretty cool.. Typical for that style, Hot club de France etc. Might be worth listening to Django stuff and work out your own fingerings, It cant be that hard, Django only had to usable fingers on his left hand... Well the two good ones for soloing, and the damaged other two for chord work only. Fantastic player.. I am rambling , not much help to you Steve. Good luck with it though. Garry
 21. Can you add emptying your wifes handbag? Christ, have you seen what they keep in there! Garry

 24.
Yes...I tire of every topic, both in person and on forums about players. Everyone has thier own oppinion and that's it. Some like McCartney, others Entwhistle...Others Wooten...Others Sheehan...Others Hamm...Others Miller... It's not so bad...until they start pushing them on you. I like Wooten...then I get bored...then I like again... But these threads are just....boring and pointless. It's all oppinion so yes...very bored.
So when are you off to Switzerland then?..... Garry
 25.
Slap can be funky - it can also be totally unfunky.
Its not the Slap thats unfunky... Its usually the tit playing it, thats unfunky........... Sex Machine - James Brown is worth a listen. Garry
