Makes my skin crawl.
Having played Bass for the West end Wendy Community on several show's ... I cant agree more.... Soul less Bollock's Shouting and Straying from the tune.. Ad lib's all over the place Back phrasing [ 'Cause they aint go not time] And they think all that is Rock and Roll And the tuning....what's that all about... Thank god the Band / Orchestra is F..K..G Brilliant. Garry
 6.
Isolated Jamerson bass tracks probably come from the www.ricksuchow.com web site. They used to be freely available but Motown complained. You now have to get some sort of sign in to access them. Unless you know someone who has them on CD already!! You get bass only and the whole rhythm tracks for ABC, Brick House, I Want You Back, Let's Get It On, Reach Out I'll Be There, Standing In The Shadows Of Love, What's Going On and Ain't Too Proud To Beg. Personally I prefer Jamerson in the mix.
Yep .. I have access to this site.... And it is pretty amazing hearing JJ Isolated... Such a big rich warm sound...and really tight articulation.... You also get the mix without drums , for some strange reason. And you are right , the tracks were knocking around for ages for a lot of the stuff , and Motown put some legal block on it. I believe there are .wav files knocking around of the multi tracks as well. On another note..There are also some rare Jaco tracks up there as well.. And a few Macca Solo'd Bass things as well ..or at least track sharing. Garry
 7. Must admit .. The MMC1 Looks Devine... Good one.... I keep prowling around Ebay hoping one appears. Garry

 10.
IMO you should use pedals, or pedal switchable pres/amps for lots of different sounds.
Blimey.... a pedal for every different tone.... I would then be having lesson's from Fred Astaire .. Instead of a Bass tutor.... Garry
 11.
my EBS head used to belong to [er, was used on a clinic tour by] Mr. Marcus Miller...... in fact I'm fairly sure this was a yarn spun by Bernie to lure in suckers like me, Marcus probably signed half a dozen of the buggers! Oh well, damn fine bit of kit anyway! infact, looking at the pic it doesn't really constitute any form of proof that it's even an item of musical gear really does it!?!? maybe I just took a large piece of anodised metal to be signed by the man at one of his gigs?...... ho hum!
I got a EBS 350 from Bernie about 4 or 5 years ago , that had been signed by Marcus that morning... I unloaded it to a guy on the old Bassworld about 3 years ago... Not the same one is it...??? Or you are probably right..there's loads of signed ones about Garry
 12. I have a Agi 3 band pre-amp in my Rim Bass... which now days i use very little [pre-amp].Maybe a little treble boost for a more hi-fi slap tone. My pups have a very high output.. and in passive mode there is no tone control at all...[Just twiddle my amp , or my DI box] But i have a sound a like... Plenty of meat and warmth , I use heavy strings with a high action.. Which i think helps give me a more fatter sound... I always go for the same tone... What i am saying really is that if you are going for lots of different tones...a pre-amp is a must. But i also wonder how much is comming from your fingers....? or should be.... Saying all that , i love the active sound from my old Stingray.... Garry
 13. No James Brown Then..... Sex Machine..... Garry
 14.
John Giblin on some of the old Kate Bush stuff...
+1... And a top player at that! Garry

 20.
I track stuff through my Aguilar DB680 (valve). The Avalon U5 and the Ridge Farm are both very high quality items of studio gear. I'd love to have all three at my disposal but that would just be greedy, wouldn't it?
Blimey... That would be a tasty set of toys..... I think i am gonna try and make it to one of your band gigs , at some point. Looks like that might be a night of fun..! Garry
 21. Hey TF.. I have just checked out your band's my Space.. Cool stuff Man...Great. Garry
 22.
The only tip I'd offer is to try every mic or preamp you have for every bass or other instrument you want to record. Sometimes you'll be very pleasantly rewarded like Urb was. But valve bass preamp to record bass - a bit of a no-brainer, isn't it?
Ummm... Not sure about that... I have a Avalon U5... Not a valve insight. Lovely warm sound... Garry
 23.
Mr Jamerson was all over the verse and chorus like a rash
We talking the same Jamerson here... Or someone from a Tribute Band.? Garry
SHADO procurement advise starting with the UK list price when looking to move a pre-owned instrument and then take off at least 30-40% depending on condition, etc.
Blimey ...Some folk are being ripped , over at a place called Ebay... They are paying over £1500.00 for some old Fender thing's from the late 60's...! If memory serves me right , cost new about £600.00. Do you think someone should say something..?? Garry
