  1. On 'In France They Kiss on Main Street', Pat's lick when he's tidying up his solo always gets me (4:41) ...Then straight after, his quote at around 5:32. A great way to warm up and start a gig... On the ballads and slower tunes, I particularly like Jaco's touch, feel and tone. Although, I lost interest in his solo spot when it slithered up his backside a bit. I thought the whole concert had great dynamics from Joni and the players, and for me, the musicians on show oozed bucket loads of skill, feel and technique.
  2. I downloaded this yesterday. I must say, it's terrific..!! There are loads of very usable presets and it's an interesting Synth for carving out your own sounds. The arpeggiater has plenty of options as well. It's also pretty CPU efficient. Thanks for the link. 👍
  3. Jive Bunny and their Snare Drum had the World Rocking in 1990 to 'Swing the Mood'.
  4. In your first post, you say a 'Free Synth VST', so I'm guessing you are using a DAW for the Audio playback to your Video, or maybe considering it? If so, and your DAW doesn't have any Synth VSTi's, just Google for free VST Synth's etc... Like these: Best 20 Free Synth VST/AU Plugins of 2021! - The Home Recordings The best free VST synth plugins 2021: wavetable, FM, virtual analogue and more | MusicRadar If you don't want it to sound totally synthy and lean more towards Bass Guitar sounding, you can double up. Try Recording the Bass line in question as a midi Bass Synth part on one track, and then, record another track with just a dry Electric Bass part doubling the Synth. (You could even move the Synth part up an Octave). Then mix in the Synth track just under the Bass Guitar track. Buss them together if needed (including a Comp on the buss track to glue both parts together). There are plenty of YouTube tutorial videos demonstrating this technique. EDIT: Out of interest, are you going to be miming to playback for your video? If not, and you are playing live, ignore all that I said....
  5. R.I.P Always in the pocket.
  6. I've always found it funny that JR looks like he should be singing at the 'Grand Ole Opry', rather than playing Drums on hundreds and hundreds of top draw recordings. He's like a human metronome....
  7. Yeah, sorry, I was talking about the Steinberg site where there is a small saving with upgrades. I think total is £405 upgrade from A1 or Elements. If you want to dive straight into Pro 11, then from Amazon Prime there is a good deal. £308.00. You get a serial number and the Dongle. Then you register at Steinberg and download via the Download manager. I'm not sure how long the deal is though. Steinberg Cubase Pro 11: Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments If you have one another Vendor DAW (full version), you can get a cross grade offer for £300.00. I think you just have to provide proof of purchase.
  8. I run Nuendo 11 on a UR22 unit at the below settings without any problems. So you shouldn't have any problems with Cubase 11 pro. (your Laptop specs are no problem, good infact, for Cubase).. You could always try Elements 11 and if all is well, upgrade to Artist or Pro. It's sometimes a little cheaper going the upgrade route. Certainly no more expensive. Also, Steinberg should have a sale coming up soon. At times, it can be as much as 50% off.

    Which DAW?

This fellow has some useful ways of using the Chord track.

    Which DAW?

Yes, a bit long for one sitting, so I tend to watch the next day as well....Good stuff though.

    Which DAW?

Yes, a good idea. Although I'm a long term Cubase user (well Nuendo these days), there are always new things that I have picked up from Youtube videos and other websites, only to never find them again. These days the first port of call for me is the regular Official 'Club Cubase Live Stream'. A wealth of info.
  12. There's some great music and playing on that Album. I wonder if he sued himself for ripping off his own Bass line..!
  13. That's also Larry Kimpel on Bass on the the Live 'Brazilian Love affair' video I posted a few posts back.
  14. Al Jarreau Live in London 1984. Probably one of the best concerts I've been to. The Dave Sanborn band as the support were pretty amazing as well. Inc Steve Gadd & Marcus Miller...
