I really really shouldn't be in here looking at this....
... but, since you are here, have a look at the beautiful chocolatey striped pau ferro fingerboard, which - as for Fodera suggestion - have been regulary treated with mineral oil every 6 months. Amazing wood grain..

Up for sale is my Fodera Matt Garrison Standard It’s #7 and I’m the original owner Just in case you’re not familiar with the bass, please, don’t let the word “standard” fool you as this is in fact an Elite (neck-through) model: think at it as a Custom with locked-in specs. The main difference between this and the other members of the Fodera Standards family are: three piece maple neck (as opposed to one piece) angled headstock custom shop Pope preamp (as opposed to standard preamp) Rest of the specs are: 33" scale 5 strings (E-C), 17.5mm bridge spacing 26 small frets box-elder burl top, walnut body with alder tone block (neck through) three piece maple neck with pau ferro fingerboard Fodera/Duncans Dual coil pickups, Pope custom shop 3-band preamp Drop D-tuner Weight 9.8 lbs As a couple of small dings in the lower part of the body but nothing major. Comes with the original Fodera hardshell case, papers, tools and even in the same cardbox it came with. Price is 5200 GBP (7300 EUR) and bass is FOR SALE ONLY. Please NO TRADE OFFERS as the only reason I'm sellin this is to finance a 6 strings Fodera. Shipping via FedEx is included to many European destinations (Yes.. UK is one of them) but buyer pays for insurance if he wants to include it. Only payment method is wire transfer. No Paypal. Bass will ship the same day money will show into my account and I'll provide tracking number. Buy with confidence: I just have one feedback on this forum but many on talkbass and they all speak for me. I can privately provide other references to the buyer. Now the eye candy:

Work for me too but not for everybody! ;-)

Agreed. Like anything else they're not for everyone and going for a standard is the safe bet if you've never experienced Fodera before. I think that the Fodera guys have gone wrong on the standard only on one thing. The name. IMO they should have simply call the standards with the model name and the customs with model name + custom. i.e. "Fodera Emperor 5" (for the current E5S model) and "Fodera Emperor Custom 5" for the same model tailored to customer's specs. People often assume they're not to the level of their custom line but they're wrong. Take the Matt Garrison Standard as an example: it's just a custom you didn't choose the woods. Only difference with a Matt Garrison Custom is the bridge (made by hipshot on the standard and by HazLab on the custom) and that's pretty a non significant difference. The other standard models, aside from the bridge, have two difference with the custom: the preamp and the one piece neck with flat headstock. Again, non significant differences in my book: the prized Anthony Jackson Presentation model has no preamp at all, and the Mike Pope Viceroy have a one piece bolt-on neck with the flat headstock. Ask both guys if they care... I'm glad I went with a MGS over a custom Imperial as I saved lots of money without choosing an expensive top (and the box-elder burl top happened to be a really nice one). I'm now thinking about moving it because I suspect a double cut model will suit me best, but If I'll ever make the move then I'll undoubtely go for an Emperor Standard.

Saw your bass in another thread, Si... Stunning piece of gear you have there, bro!

Box-elder burl tops on Matt Garrison Standards are quite stunning by real but difficult to capture on pics. Here's my attempt at it...

I'm opening a new thread because the original one didn't reflect the price on the title and I couldn't edit it anymore. The price dropped down from the original asking price of € 2800 to € 2600 and NOW I'm offering it at what I consider a steal for such a bass: EUR 2400 + shipping. Please, do not offer trades of any kind. I'm only interested in a straight sale and price is now firm. I won't go lower than that. Tiger maple body core with beautiful walnut top and back. Bolt-on three piece hard rock maple neck with pau ferro fingerboard. It has the new Smith 3 bands 18 volts preamp. Bass is in IMMACULATE conditions: it's a 2008 born that just sitted three years in its case at Bass Central. Not even showed in the soundroom floor... It has been played at my smoke-free home and has following me at just one gig. It's virtually NEW, not a single scratch, ding ... NOTHING! Just as you received it from Ken's hands. Set up with a LOW action (1.5 mm at 12th fret) it plays perfectly and has the punchy, warm growl Smith sound in spades! Comes with all the papers, keys, polish and cloth in an original KSD gig bag. I'll even include a new unpacked set of Smith taper-core medium strings. The shipping for most European countries should be around 70/90 Euros with UPS providing tracking number. Now the eye-candy ...
