  1. heres a nice synthy sound from the Dr. Scientist Frazz dazzler. Frazz demo.mp3
  2. Aston Barrett used to try and get his jazz bass to sound as much like an upright bass as possible. Flats, Rolled off the tone played with the big thumb technique and near the neck. That will get you most of the way there. His eden rig and its excellent EQ probably went the rest of the way. Those tone monsters can really move some air! I regret selling my wt800. Never selling my Eden 410 tho, even if it does weigh more than my car.
  3. I think its important to understand what we are aiming for here.... Dub originally was created by a mixing engineer and a desk to bring in and remove elements of a roots reggae reccord. His effects toolkit would have been limited to eq, delay reverb and maybe tape saturation. Desk EQs of that era would have had low shef filters. So you could argue that for an authentic dub sound that's all you need. Modern dub music of corse has completely different bass, using synths and sub bass to move huge volumes of air through subwoofers. You need the right speakers to make it effective. OP, Which is it you are going for?
  4. Isn't the beef bag a meatbox clone?
  5. If only you knew how deep a hole im in with buying pedals. You are not helping. im basically in a massive P- hole!
  6. These are brilliant. Tempted
  7. the MXR BEF can do a really dubby sound. Turn the sens down, and tge filter frequency to find the sweet spot. Q to taste. Fully wet It sound amazing. Ill see if I can do a sound clip later
  8. Its not really noisy when powered correctly. Thismorning I had it daisychained with other pedals on a cheap power supply.
  9. I finally got round to stoking up them coals! I cant yet claim to have figured out all the posibilities on this, and alot of what your about to hear is found by a kind of suck it and see attitide rather than going for any particular sound. Its incredibly difficult to get back to a sound even if you have pictures of the settings as the filter controlls are so sensitive. The tracking of the octave patches is highly dependent on the BP filter before it. if the resonance is to high or the frequency is in the wrong spot, the octaves dont track well as they are seeing a filtered signal which might hugely affect the fundmenal. The BP filters also cannot be bypassed, and always have some resonance even wnen peak is set at the lowest. the filters imho sound fantastic as do the raw distortion sounds. Its glitchy, its filthy, its funky and i really dig it! steak Scrap 1.mp3 steak Scrap 2.mp3 steak Scrap 3.mp3 steak Scrap 4.mp3 steak Scrap 5.mp3 steak scrap 6.mp3 (i drew a number on the table lower right to match the settings to the clip)
