Yeah the lettering is the main focus ATM. Getting it clearer is my priority. Im playing with some of the first layer print settings today to see if i can get more definition between the letters. The printer relies upon squishing the 1st layer into the bed for adhesion, this also has the effect of smudging the letters. .... but im on it

Beta V3 is complete. Hopefully I can finalise the design today and I'll be able to print a batch this weekend. If anybody wants one, send an email to [email protected] with "future impact Housing" in the subject. Let me know where you are so I can calculate postage. Updates include: lettering/labels - added, but not totally happy with the definition. im working on it Internal screen protect - not sure yet if i'm going to fit a screen protector for shipping as its an easy fit if you want to put one on. I actually prefer it off as the numbers are brighter. small internal feature changes for better fit - No more fiddly wiggly assembly.

Beta Version 2 is a reality... There is no more space to be found inside.
-
Its not "needed", but its probably advised to keep noise to a minimum. Although i understand that digital pedals suffer less than analogue ones. May be wrong here though. Regardless, its costs very little to actually do should anybody choose that route.

Anybody that wants one can email [email protected] putting "Future Impact housing" in the subject line. Please let me know where in the world you are so i can look into postage options. Once the design is finalised, ill email everybody and let you know the details, etc.

I started a Thread last week about this pedal. But @Al Krow ruined it. Hopefully yours survives

That would be cool! unfortunately i've come to the realisation that nothing can protrude from the upper surface, unless it is bonded on. Its printed upside down, and so putting features on the top surface is raising the height of the whole print and adding a lot of extra support material/cost in the process

Version 2 in progress. Updates include: Local thickness around features increase from 3mm to 4mm for stiffness/strength Reduced length by an additional 2.5mm to 98.5mm Moving the foot switches into the corners - after many hours thinking about this, i feel this is the best location for them if they remain on the top. Addition of parameter detents- a seperate part will clip to the underside of the parameter knob and allow for indexing. Screen recess to allow for cover branding (thanks @ped)

i'm pretty sure that will work.

that's way beyond my scope of work im afraid! But like i said, im happy to give someone a free one if they come up with a cool graphic!

i thaught about this, but anything beyond 45 degrees would put the switch at risk of being ripped out the housing. The problem isnt the angle, its the proximity. I think its either got to be moved.... or the encoder guarded.
-
Yes, ill give that some thought.... one idea to protect the encoder was to put some kind of wall below it/around it.... this could potentially be a meteor!
-
Fantastic! "The Future Compact" is born!
-
Great name, do you mind if i use that? Technically it can be.... a 9v battery can be wired up, but i couldn't say how long it would last...
-
a bit like their OD/Distortion pedals/ mod pedals. They are all capable of each others sounds, the only difference is what come pre programmed on the switches for those ppl who dont use neuro.

Some of you might find this useful/interesting..... When i opened up my future impact pedal out of curiosity to see what was inside, i was shocked to find mostly (continental brand) fresh air! Here you can see that the lower half of the pedal is almost exactly, approximately an MXR BEF worth of space!! So i formulated a plan to Design and 3D print an enclosure, into which i can re-house the innards of the Future impact, to make a much more pedalboard friendly footprint. I began by removing the knobs from the outside and the circuit boards from the inside of the case I then laser scanned the inside of the case to generate an STL that can be used to replicate the Mounting features/holes in the new design. I copied all of the internal/external features from the STL, but moved the foot switches as close to the circuit board as i could on the inside. I didn't put in any small holes for the screws, as i thought these would be better aligned using the actual circuit boards as a template. I printed the 1st Prototype ove night last night and assembled it this morning. Everything went together great and still functioned perfectly. I was able to reduce the length of the enclosure from 155mm to 101mm, and i think there's room for further improvement on that. The finished prototype unit. And here it is re-installed on the board. I plan to tweak the design and print another next week if i get a chance. Some of the changes will include reducing the length of the housing even further, moving the on/off switch more central to get it away from the encoder, adding a feature to recess display protector of some kind, branding/lettering. I'm open to suggestions for additional improvements. For now, its printed in PLA, but once the design is finalises, ill be printing it it Black Nylon which will stand up to pedalboard life a bit better. Once the design is complete, im happy to share the STL so you can print it yourselves, or £ven print a few and ship them out to those interested. *Any FI owners that's capable of cool graphic designs can have one for free if they develop the artwork (2 colors)

Yeah I really like this idea!

1. This deserves its own thread. 2. Get the wood CNCd on a router/mill. It's not as expensive as you might think.

We don't comment on ongoing investigations. A statement will be released in due course.
