The manta can't do anything like what's in the Instagram demo so I'm fairly sure it's a completely new engine. Although it is likely to cover some of the filter features of the manta. On the face of it, it appears to be a dedicated pitch tracking, oscillator based synth pedal. Future impact killer??? 😮

i think it's about time we started getting excited about this... They have started releasing pictures and a bass demo on their instagram, and it looks like they are going with the small one series format. Id have preferred a large format, but if the depth/range of their other pedals is anything to go by, its going to be awesome!

are you disputing the existence of "heft"?

The GAK website says the string spacing is 19mm, can you confirm this? it doesn't look like tht wide to me...

Holy mother of god that is a stunner. Where did you get it? I want one

That's the perception yes but it's not the whole story....Ableton is also a fully capable audio/midi tracker in its own right. I've been using it to produce, record sessions and live bands for years and found its feature set/workflow very intuitive after learning Daws on primarily sonar, and fruityloops. Horses for courses tho I suppose edit: its also VERY stable! which is essential if your recording live! i think i've yet to witness ableton crash even once.

I'm a bit late to this thread i appreciate, but the strymon Deco adds all the saturation and overtones i could ask for, into my fairly clinical genz benz head (which i love like my only child). Its effectively a tape recorder saturation and flutter/wow emulation pedal. here's a great Italian bass demo, the satutation solo`d starts at 3:10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c3SQjePF5I The saturation side of the pedal is by no means an obvious "effect" but gives a subtle warmth to the sound that wont change the core tone like all the pedals already mentioned on this thread. The flutter side of the pedal can do everything from subtle tape warble, lush chorus and into double tracking. And it has stereo outs if your into that sort of thing!

if i had to choose just 1.... (and i have owned them all).... MXR BEF

I cut my teeth as a musician on the acoustic guitar and still listen to many bluegrass/acoustic players when the time is right. here's one of my all time favs... and i used to be able to play this many years ago. maybe ill give it a try again

i have some ideas about this but before i share them id like to ask a few questions if i may? 1. are you looking to take 2mm per side off the entire length of the neck and therefore reducing the width at the 12 aswell? or just "increase the taper" 2. are you expecting a refret afterwards? as neck width surely corresponds to fret length. the neck will be much easier to work if there's no fretts in there. 3. are you also reducing the string spacing? or will the strings be closer to the new edge of the fingerboard
-
Try it with hook on the top, then if you don't like it, turn your board over and try it the other way round. If you don't like it that way, it's easier to change back..... If you DO prefer it, you should probably give up pedals.

There is an MXR BEF preset on the talkbass share folder that gets close. But it dosent get close enough. Imho Just because a pedal CAN do somthing, dosent mean it does it well. The manta is almost exclusively used for synth sounds for me. The mictroron and mxr are much better at finger funk.

Well I'm interested. Finally an SR with a manly string spacing!!!

thanks for the info! I've never actually seen/played a "custom", has anybody got any experience?
-
can any of you good folk help me identify this? The Body shape appears to be a Custom (horns too smooth for a classic) , but they don't usually come with those pickups.... and what are those pickups? and the top wood for that matter... maybe quilted maple? thanks in advance.

but the saddles are individual. Are you seriously suggesting taking 1 off and spacing the remaining 5 to an acceptable spacing???? Not to mention the whole world of pain that could open up if you were to get it wrong, it would look awful!! the saddle recess pockets would be visible through the gaps between the saddles. Just no.
