New guitar arrived today. The wood grain is "normal" and no damage to speak of on initial inspection. Only had 2 mins with it tho as I'm at work. Full inspection and report will follow But I'm over the moon with how it looks

I sent the bass back and requested another due to the scratch on the neck. They are going to send me a new one, estimated delivery 11th Jan. I'll post a pic when it arrives. I posted a pic of the scratch for which i returned it if anybody is interested. As a side note, I have actually come round to the idea of ugly wood. Wood is wood. If the next one is ugly. I'll keep it

I think im right in saying that flats have less high frequency content (especially old ones) so the filter will not be able to cut the frequencies that arent there to begin with, so the filter sweep will be less noticeable. I love my MXR and although i have 5 filters. its the only one permanently on the board. I do notice however how much more prominent the sweep is with fresh strings. hope that helps

I just treated myself to a fender jazz elite v in tabaco sunburst. It's the only fender I have played and fell in love with. Expensive yes... but don't tell the missus

Thank everybody for your opinions. I paid full price from a guitar shop in London. I ordered it and had them ship it to me here in brighton. I paid nearer 2000 than 1500. Alot nearer. The thing know is I'm a wood grain lover. I purposefully paid the little extra for the ash body and transparent finish so I could see the grain. And although it's still beautiful, it is without doubt the least attractive one I have seen. And I'm not happy with that. Upon closer inspection, there is also a scratch have on the back of the neck and a bump on the headstock. So it's going good back. Thanks again for those who replied
B stock, too - signs of use.
What makes you say that?

I received my new fender jazz elite 5er today in tobacco sunburst. It's perfect except a blemish in the wood grain is right in the middle of the top.... I know its silly but I'm questioning myself if I should send it back? It's not damage, it's just ugly wood... and it's location couldn't be worse. What would you guys do??
My new board, having just received the Future Impact. Today was the first time I've been able to mess about with the software editor, and triggering it via Keyboard, but I have to say - VERY cool. They've knocked it out of the park with this one. Barely even touched the surface of what this unit can do. MIDI cable for plugging in my keyboard controller: Underneath you can see I've connected some short MIDI cables from TheGigRig so that I never have to detach it from the board for any reason. I've taped the MIDI in cable that will be used most often to the side of the board so it sits just out of the way but is easily accessible. The MIDI Out cable is only needed for downloading sounds and firmware so isn't used live. I'm going out to the Alps for the Winter Season with a 3 piece band, so need to make it sound as big as possible. Got 6 days to get all my patches in order and songs learned, and then off I go!
I miss it so baaaaad!!!
I own one, an ash bodied natural and maple neck 5 string. The B string is as good as I've heard on any bass, it's punchy, tight, and sustains brilliantly well! The neck feels so good, a nice modern C shape up in the lower register that changes to the Fender 'D' shape, the compound radius makes moving up and down the neck easy as can be!
i can confirm this is true! lovely fat and tight B. I tried on in a store last night and ill be ordering one later this week in tobacco sunburst best fender i ever played without a doubt. I hope mine is as nice a player as the one in the store.

I don't think kandice there's any physical problems with the board. The point is I'm rethinking my attitude towards effects.
hang on to your pedals 'till you come up with a better analogy!

Depends on the pedals - you can use a looper or have true bypass pedals, or a switchable effects loop on the amp.. All of which address the tone suck issue..
i do use a looper.... see below
For the OP - what was on the board ?
i have .... Future impact dod meatbox moog boost source audio manta MXR envelope filter Line 6 M5 MXR compressor pretty much set up in that order, and i split the signal at the meatbox and send the wet down the chain and mix it it with an LS2 just before the compressor all linked up to a joyo PXL looper/midi controller

So I rebuilt my partialy midi controlled pedal board last weekend, made up of roughly 12 pedals. Tested it at home and everything sounded great, but when I got into the rehersal space last night I found some of my preset levels were a bit off.... Rather than reprogram on the fly, I decided to bypass the board and go straight into the amp, especially as I had a new cable to try out.... What happened next was kind of a big thing for me..... my tone was amazing!!! It was like I fell in love with playing bass all over again. My tone just popped, cut like butter through the mix, sounded round and full.... Everything I played sounded fantastic! Well at least way better than usual FYI I play a cort custom A5 into an eden wt800 and 410xst, and play mostly funk and rnb. So it leaves me with a dilemma... do I need my pedal board??? Right now I'm leaning towards no and I'm quite ready to sell the whole lot. I play only in originals bands so I can choose my tone. It's not like I have to have a certain sound for anything. Anybody here had similar experiences?
