1. Fuzzrocious - The Demon w/ 2nd Distortion mod Price: £100 inc 1st class postage This is my Fuzzrocious Demon, which although I love, I'm selling to fund a Darkglass Vintage Deluxe. Really great sounding distortion that goes from light distortion/overdrive through to thick, intense borderline fuzz sounds. Comes with the stock volume, tone and distortion and the additional mod of a 2nd distortion. This is non stacking, so it allows you to have access to two predetermined distortion levels, which I've found very useful. It's got a really lovely finish on, with no damage apart from the 'fuzzrocious' on the bottom side of the pedal being slightly faded, and the fact it's velcro'd on the bottom. I've been using this with the Fuzzrocious to function as a clean blend. Small footprint, velcroed, perfect condition. Would prefer to sell both pedals together (£145 posted as a pair) but I will separate if necessary. No trades please as it's funding another purchase. Pm me if you have any questions Cheers Tom

3. Thanks for the help everyone, really interesting stuff! Plenty to research I'd love to buy a synth but as people have said on here, mainly for convenience I'd prefer pedals. Less gear to carry and I'm no Geddy for multitasking so it seems easier to me to do everything with one instrument, if possible. If it did come to buying a synth, can anyone recommend me any that aren't going to cost a fortune?
4. I'm getting into a lot of electronic music and music that incorporates synth parts such as Snarky Puppy lately and I'm wondering if any of you implements synth sounds on bass and how? Thinking maybe an OC-2 with a drive pedal to get a classic analog Moog sort of sound, or maybe something like a Markbass Supersynth?
5. I love the look of that custom Cat Tail! Can we be expecting any videos/audio with it soon?
6. Hi Dave, is this still available?
7. Certainly looks interesting, I think I'll wait for a demo to come out first before forking out for one, though I'm sure it'll be a great pedal since I can't think of a single EQD which has fallen short of the mark. Like you said I would prefer it to have a tone knob but I do like the switchable diode options, could be interesting to experiment with.
8. Prog does seem to be making a come back, to a certain degree, though I couldn't pinpoint areas in the UK where there is a 'prog scene'. Like people have said, it's mainly progressive metal/djent which is a big step away from traditional prog, but then again that is what makes it progressive. Though saying that Steve Wilson and Opeth have both dabbled with classic camel-esque prog in the past, and newer prog metal bands (particularly BTBAM and Haken) are combining traditional prog elements with more modern stuff which I'm liking a lot. If anywhere, I would say around London would be the best place to set up a progressive band, most bands of the genre I can think of are from/based in London, such as Tesseract, Sikth and Haken.
9.
A Markbass LM head with a Sansamp BDDI might be worth looking at. Loved that setup when i had it. MarkBass heads go for relatively cheap on here 2nd hand, so would give you a decent budget for a cab then too. You ever down South Wales? Ive got a few bits and pieces you'd be welcome to try
I'm not unfortunately but may be going down there in the summer, hopefully will be sorted by then! I do use pedals a lot so I'll have to try out the OBT when I get the chance. Got a few more to look into now, thanks everyone!
10. All the amps I've had so far have been solid state and they don't really have the sound I'm looking for. Then again I think Tonehammers and Little Mark III's sound lovely, so maybe it's just the ones I've been using!
11. I haven't tried one myself which is why I've been looking for peoples thoughts. But like you confirmed I was worried that it could be a 'one thing but does it well' sort of deal. I haven't had much of a chance to try many other amps other than the Tonehammer and VT you suggested because of the lack of good music shops in the area, except when I take the occasional trip to manchester/leeds. As far as specifics, I'd need something around 500 watts, fairly simple 3 or four band EQ and onboard compressor and headphone out would be a plus but not compulsory. And like I said in the OP I'd prefer either a hybrid amp or a good quality class D. Budget is about £500-700 because I'll also need to get a new cab(s) to match the amp.
12. I've been using an Ampeg Portaflex 350 into an Ashdown MAG 2x10 for about two years now but it's not really doing anything for me anymore. Need something new. Something tubey. I need something versatile, that'll suit most different styles since I play in a function band and do a lot of progressive/math rock and jazz in my spare time. Essentially, something that's not just a one-trick pony. I'd like something with a bit of head room and headphone out would be a bonus. I'd prefer to move away from solid state but can't afford an all valve amp so a hybrid seems like good middle ground. Been looking at Bass Terrors seeing as it's hybrid and seems promising, anyone able to vouch for them? Or recommend anything else?
13.
Michael League is great! I certainly would describe Snarly Puppy as 'pop', so you might enjoy it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE9I6NrE2S0 I love the jam on the beginning of Binky, Michael shows great sense of innovation and dynamic awareness. Great band.
14.
So, I think every great player just joins a pantheon of great bassists, rather than replacing the older ones.
Hit the nail on the head!
15.
Maybe I misunderstood the original question, but I thought it was about who the new players coming through are, not if young people are influenced by the same old farts that we were.
I think I did go a bit off subject from the original post, I was referring to what someone said in a previous comment about 'band' music not being popular with young people and went off on a bit of a tangent! But to answer what you said about new names, the ones sticking in my mind are Rick Barrio Dill, Robin Eberhart, Mike League, Alissia, Hadrien Feraud, Mark Michel, Nick Oliveri/Michael Shuman. Then of course you have a lot of players coming to light through Youtube channels such as Scott Devine.
16. As a young musician myself (18) I see no less attraction to 'band' music than people two or three times my age do. I have a wide range or influences from the 50's to the present day, in the way of Charles Mingus, John Paul Jones, Chris Squire, Jaco and Geddy through to modern players such as Michael League, Janek Gwizdala, Justin Chancellor, Amos Williams and Stuart Zender etc. Although as times have progressed there has been a mass saturation of modern music, there is still a lot of great music to be found, and influence with it. There seems to be a preconceived notion that young musicians can't be influenced by music that is not of their time, which is undoubtedly misinformed.
17. Messaged you
