How did you guys make it work in a band situation? [/quote] We do Figure It Out (and Out Of The Black) in a 2 x guitar / bass / drums set up. Guitar no. 1 plays the guitar part as per the recording. Guitar no. 2 (singer) comes in on the chorus I play the bass as per the recording. It's not particularly challenging but we usually open with it, and the open E gives me a chance to makes any adjustments. It's a lot of fun to play, good luck!

Yes, and I loved it. I was promoting a monthly night of mostly solo performers and duos or small groups for a couple of years until about 18 months ago. I'd book a feature act which was normally someone who had maybe released an EP or done a bit a press that would maybe attract a few fans or followers, and then three local acts who might bring some of their mates. I loved every aspect of it, from sorting out fees, PA etc to doing the posters, which I made to resemble classic record labels. I'd promote the hell out of the nights on social media and get the acts to do so on theirs, which they were happy to do. Local radio and a couple a local music blogs supported us and consequently we were always well supported. I never made a lot of money at it, but that wasn't the point. It was more about just putting the nights on and the joy of pulling everything together. Then one day the landlord left the pub and the brewery turned it into a tapas bar. If I could've continued I would have, and if I find another venue I'll do it again for sure.

Is there a Venues thread on Basschat? I'm aware of the Gigs thread, but I'm thinking more of somewhere musicians can rate venues, bands can share information on accessibility, parking etc? I had a quick search but nothing came up. I think it's quite a good idea... 😉

It sure is. Frusciante's isolated tracks are on YouTube too. Him, Chad and Flea - what an incredible unit they were.

I love the tones on this album, I believe it's all Wal, except for a bit of 5 string Stingray (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). I always thought that Flea was using a very subtle envelope filter on everything, not enough to colour the sound but just enough to give that slightly 'squelchy' attach, but listening to this it's just his 'natural' tone I think.

Having a super quick mum and dad seems to have produced some kind of genetic racing super hybrid.

We played at a wedding in deepest rural Wales last year and someone kept shouting out for a song by Super Furry Animals, which turned out to be an obscure album track. He found it utterly incomprehensible that we didn't know it.
