    Point him to the serial number websites, ask for a list of other reasons for it being a fake, then ask to supply you with a written appraisal from a Gibson expert/Gibson themselves of the guitar in question.

They clamp and lock onto the screw, so they'll give more leverage.

    If you've got access to a Dremmel type tool, use one of those with a small cutting disc to cut a flathead slot in the screw. That or use it to cut the strap button off leaving the screw to be removed with mole grips.

    The String length is Correct for the lowest string. The tapered part should only go around the winding post of the tuner. Nige

    Saw them in 82-ish supporting AC/DC on the "For Those About To Rock" tour, playing all the stuff from "Black Tiger". Absolutely stunning show.... Saw them a couple of times in the States in the late eighties. Then a couple(?) of years back. Still had it. Only found out recently Phil was ill. Sad indeed
