1. I think the Buy it Now price makes it a limited edition.....
2.
Just wanted to flag up that whilst in the throws of series debate as to whether mim,mij or mia foam is the best Yorick posted me some top notch stuff in the post for nothing in return! What a bloody nice guy, I'm from Carlisle not used to acts of kindness haha. Big thanks to Nige for that!! Sounds the biz
Cool... anyone else? I'll charge this time!!!
3. Get it right lads.... Crafted in Japan is the best
4. The honest answer is no. I was able to read music as a wee nipper(35 something years ago), and i've totally forgotten how to...... Been in many bands between then and now, and i've never been asked to read a chart. If i'm learning stuff for a new band, i'll ask for a chord chart and a recording if there is one. Failing that, a chord chart and a load of rehearsal. Nige
5. I like the Pitchjack, apart from it's not chromatic, so you have to press buttons if you want to use flat tunings.
6. I've got some high density rubber foam matting if you want a chunk. It's 14mm thick. Drop me a PM if you want some. Nige
7. Get a Grammapad......
8. This a simple one...... get a metronome, set an average BPM, say 100, and just tap your index and middle fingers along to the beat. Build up your speed gradually.
9. Hard life, eh????
10. Brazilian rosewood.
11.
I thought I saw Stanley Clarke on Tuesday night. It was dark & I couldn't quite be sure, but when I yelled "OI - CLARKE, STAY OUT OF MY BINS!", he scuttled away, making an odd high-pitched squeaking sound - so I'm pretty sure it was him. Jon.
Sure it wasn't our very own funk-meister, Clarky?
12. Bl00dy hell................... welcome, aaayyyyy!!
13. Rather hideous IMHO
14. Welcome
15. Try this lot. Not used them myself though, but they seem to have everything. http://www.allparts.uk.com/
16. Might have that copy, I'll have a look tonight.
17. All the above.... also find out what key the band does the songs in. They may not be the same as the record. That happened to me once. Learned the recorded version, turned up and found they played the stuff a tone down to accommodate the singer's lack of vocal range.
18. Think we're going to go down the registered letter route. See what comes of it......... If it was pennies, and were local, it wouldn't matter, but we came up from Brum, and it's a fair chunk we're owed!!!
19.
While we're on the subject I've heard of bands having trouble getting paid at the newly-refurbished Fibbers in York. Tokyo Industries took over, announced that they'd spent 250k on the place and bought a whole new PA, but apparently that's not entirely true. They had Oceansize booked a few weeks back and the new rig couldn't meet their tech spec, so they dragged the old desk out - covered in brick dust from the refurb - and couldn't get it going. They also didn't have enough monitors or - laughably - XLR cables, so the gig got cancelled and the band had to turn away all the fans who were queueing outside. A lot of the old guys from Fibbers have jumped ship since, including their main promoter. So yeah, I would recommend booking Stereo on Gillygate or the Duchess instead.
Is there a thread already about this sort of thing? If there isn't, maybe get this pinned for future reference....
20. My band did a gig there a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't amazingly busy, but had a decent gig. When it came to being paid, we were told that the bar takings weren't brilliant, so we were paid half cash and the balance on a business cheque. Guess what.... the cheque bounced, lumping our singer with a bank charge for a bounced cheque. Now the manager won't speak to us. So, any bands you are in, or you know that are going to play there, can you warn them they may well get stiffed like us.
21. Dunlop Ultex Tri's .88mm... mmmmmmmm
22. Left handed G&l L2000 in trans red...... apart from the clubby neck, it was sublime.
23. Fleet Foxes are floating my boat on the easy listening front at the moment
