The honest answer is no. I was able to read music as a wee nipper(35 something years ago), and i've totally forgotten how to...... Been in many bands between then and now, and i've never been asked to read a chart. If i'm learning stuff for a new band, i'll ask for a chord chart and a recording if there is one. Failing that, a chord chart and a load of rehearsal. Nige

I like the Pitchjack, apart from it's not chromatic, so you have to press buttons if you want to use flat tunings.

This a simple one...... get a metronome, set an average BPM, say 100, and just tap your index and middle fingers along to the beat. Build up your speed gradually.

All the above.... also find out what key the band does the songs in. They may not be the same as the record. That happened to me once. Learned the recorded version, turned up and found they played the stuff a tone down to accommodate the singer's lack of vocal range.

Think we're going to go down the registered letter route. See what comes of it......... If it was pennies, and were local, it wouldn't matter, but we came up from Brum, and it's a fair chunk we're owed!!!

My band did a gig there a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't amazingly busy, but had a decent gig. When it came to being paid, we were told that the bar takings weren't brilliant, so we were paid half cash and the balance on a business cheque. Guess what.... the cheque bounced, lumping our singer with a bank charge for a bounced cheque. Now the manager won't speak to us. So, any bands you are in, or you know that are going to play there, can you warn them they may well get stiffed like us.
