Had an l2000 a few years ago and the sounds you can get out of it are phenomenal, but the neck was too big for my hands and bloody heavy... I use a Stingray now... go figure!!! Stingray wins though.

ps The mods were done before i got the bass. The tool who had before it me wanted it for slap...... make up your own minds on that.

Ay up.... that's my old bass. It's a late 70's neck, warmoth body and i think a seymour pickup. Got the bass in a deal and passed it on. I know the guy who's selling it so any questions, i'll ask for you.. Sounds good too.

I've used model enamels in the past, and loads of lacquer coats. But the best finish is with an airbrush, if you're any good.

The first one is based on a Streamer. Very nice basses. Got one floating about in the collection. Looks like it's had the electronics modded, which isn't a bad thing as they were originally passive. If you like jazz type necks, they are great. The second bass is bases on a Corvette. Not played one of these, so not sure about them. If you can pick either of them up for not much more than the current prices (£100?) you'll have a decent bargain. Hope this helps a little.

I know a couple of bass players in death/thrash bands who use them to very good effect. Soundwise they seem to fit into the genre quite well as well as visually. Balance wise, there isn't too much of a problem due to the body shape.

Get a cheap vernier gauge from Maplins and measure them. From what i remember most basses come supplied with .100 or .105 gauge strings.

Don't know about surreal, Stupid, yes. On stage in Germany, ever so slightly pished, i went for the foot on the monitor pose. missed and ended up in the crowd.....

Much as it hates to even memtion them *shudders*, it really, really irks me that in the latest round of promo shots for album/single/tour, they don't feature the bass player. I'm assuming it's still Hughie(?) who's been with them for the best part of twenty years.
