Or a cheaper version... the Behringer BD21 DRIVER/DI. I use one in my Halen/Roth tribute. Adds a nice tubey grit when you dig in!!!

I've successfully used an LG350 against a Peavey 5150 half stack and a Marshall 100w head and cab, both at 2/3 volume. I only needed about three quarters on the output knob. Tell the guitarist to use a proper guitar rig!!!

I played a Status S2 in a death metal band....... a headless one at that!!! The rest of the band hated it. Great basses, but couldn't quite get the right sound and my fretting hand kept falling off the bottom of the neck.

I've owned/played pretty much every name make of bass in pretty much every price bracket. I currently own a Squier P, a Yamaha bb414, a Jaydee custom, two Sandbergs and a couple of 60's Fenders. Happy with every one.. Horses for courses.

There's a guy selling some 200w 4ohm 10" drivers on here for £10 each. He's based in Reading.

I use a 90's Marshall DBS 400w head as a main amp into two Ashdown 2x10s. I also carry an Ashdown LG350 as a backup.

Try the Ibanez PD7, it has various modes(boost/overdrive/distortion), pretty good eq and is usually pretty cheap secondhand.
