1.
You were standing five feet away from an '87 Thumb from Exchanges at the Northampton bash... That was Dave the Bass who sold me that, though it may be a different Dave the Bass - slim chap, bearded IIRC, went on to work at the Carlsboro shop (now gone) by Richer Sounds. I'll be interested to see how Reverb goes - I don't think there was a problem with staff there, it seemed to me that there was more of a problem with being shoehorned into whatever corporate culture Sound Control had.
That was Dave the Nose. Worshipped at the feet of Billy Sheehan, if i remember. Wonder where he is?
2. For six hundred quid, you're not going to get much. My advice, if you want a Pepsi Tate lookee likee, get a Kramer Striker off flea bay and get a luthier to do the drill work and respray...
3. Powerful and portable? Howabout a Galien Krueger MB150
4. So, how long has he been using a Tobias?
5. Saw Metallica on Jools Holland last night. Did anyone notice that he was using a Tobias 5-string? Or were my eyes deceiving me?
6. PMT, brum just down the road... unlucky for some though!!
7. Well worth getting. I found mine on eb@y for £40 inc shipping from the states. AND it's left handed and brand new..................................
8. Dave's the bass guy at PMT in Brum. He even phones you up at half nine on a saturday morning to tell you they have something nice........................................ I also used to work at Musical Excuses, sorry Exchanges back in the day. Bit of a sh@thole, but had some tasty gear.

12. You want to try the TECH 21 heads. Sound awesome, but not valve.
13. How about adding a Hipshot d-tuner to the 4 string................
14.
In my KISS tribute.... lycra, make-up, studded codpiece, batwings, a long wiggly tongue (of my own), firebreathing, blood spitting, crotch-thrusting, an 'Axe' bass and seven inch monster-headed stack heels!! lol! In the Madness tribute.... suit and fez... or boiler suit and fez!
But Gary, that's almost normal wear for you nowadays
15. Oh yeah. A beer rider..........................
16. find out the venue capacity, how many are expected and if they're charging on the door/by ticket and go for approx 70% of that. Failing that, at least £100 per band member. Always worked for me.
17. Forgive my blessed ignorance........Who is Ross Kemp?
18. Get a Boss TU2 INSTEAD............................ Easier to use and far cheaper
19. Forget a Behringer. They're absolutely w@nk for bass..... This is from personal experience.
20. Yippee. No longer a newbie. How long does it take to to get to Overlord??????
21. Another idea!! If you've got an old four string youlike the neck on, get it set up for the bottom four strings of a five string set, ie B E A D. I did it for metal band and it sounded great. You won't have to change pickups or hardware either!!!
22. This is me with the new Sandberg and colourful strides........................
