Kevin, Now you have got the speaker out of the cab, and with your trusty cordless screwdriver to hand 😉, you may as well line the inside with some acoustic furry stuff to dampen the cab even more!

Very true Stevie! If you add a TC SpectraDrive DI or Mesa Subway Di you have a very nice setup with all the sounds you need at a reasonable price. Hopefully the reviews will be positive.

I like the look of this SpectraDrive, it has everything I need and with the flexibility of the Toneprints it could be a real answer for my needs. If it had a HPF built in it would be perfect!

+1 for what Pete said the Genzler Magellan is a very flexible amp with two switchable channels. If you want a broad range of tones from modern to olde school the Mesa Subway D800 fits the bill and if you'v got a few more pennies to spare the Mesa Subway D800 + adds variable HPF and great mid control. If you prefer home grown amps the Ashdown RM 500 or RM 800 gets lots of love around here!

For sale is one Ampeg Micro VR 200 watt head used only at home in a smoke free, animal free house. The head comes with a light weight flight case as shown. The amp delivers the typical old school classic Ampeg sound synonymous with Ampeg all valve heads. This rig is mid-heavy, which is great for that growling sound, but can be pulled back with the EQ if it's too much for you. This amp is ideal for on stage monitoring and DI into the main PA. Head is 200W into 4ohms, 150W into 8ohms Specifications MICRO-VR HEAD Preamp: Solid State Power Amp: MOSFET RMS Power Output: 200watts @ 4ohms Tone Controls: 3-Band Mid Tone Control: Ultra Mid Balanced Line Out: YES Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 12 x 5.5 x 10 £175 Now £165 Collected (West Wales) or shipped at buyer’s expense.

I have for sale a DiMarzio Split P Pup, I bought this last year from a fellow BassChatter to install into my Active Fender P Deluxe. I had Split P's in two of my passive Fender P's and loved the range of tone & power but the Split P did not suit the active preamp of the Fender P Deluxe. The DP 127 spec is well known and is a great upgrade to any passive bass. I would like £49 delivered to the UK for the pickup. Thanks for looking!

THREAD DIVERT ALERT! Isn't 'FOUNDATION' a wonderful word to describe all things Bass! I remember during my youthful years in the late 60's VOX produced a range of bass amps and cabs called Foundation. A bassist hero of mine at the time used a Vox Foundation amp and cab. The amp was 100w (?) and the cab was an open back 1x18. My hero was such a heavy percussive bassman that he removed the top and bottom rear panels of the cab and used to hammer 6 ins nails to nail the cab to the stage floor to stop the thing from bouncing around and (sometimes) OFF the stage. Oh happy days ! Those dark times before HPFs!! Enjoy your new bass Shaun!

+1 For what Danny said. I have a Tech 21 VT Bass DI and a Tech 21 VT Bass DI Deluxe and both offer a full range of an over driven Tube amp, lush, warm and as driven as you could wish for.

Thank you Tech21NYC for the clarification, sounds as if you've covered all my needs. Really looking forward to trying out one of these. Please keep us updated about UK supply dates.

As part of your research please consider adding the DiMarzio Split P Pup to your list. It's very powerful with a huge range of tones. When coupled with a KiOgon loom and a suitably selcted tone cap ( John at KiOgon can help with the best value) you can tailor your bass sound to your needs.

+1 for tha assumption that the 'subsonic filter' means a HPF. Clearly a 12 ins cab needs a HPF to control the speaker 'over exerting'?
-
@Tech21NYC Does the preamp have HPF built-in? If so what is the frequency? The combo seems to be a very nice , convenient solution to many bassist who maybe going down the FRFR route but want more bass guitar focused small unit.

+1 for the Thumpinator. Having read thread after thread from the legendary Dynamic Cab Duo Phil & Stevie I became more aware of the theory behind the effectiveness of HPF. At the time I was using Fender Rumble 500 head into one or two Basschat mk1 cabs. The HPF Thumpinator had a marked impact on the performance of my rig, tightening and cleaning up the bottom end without any loss of low end bass. If your amp does not have an HPF on board the I would recommend using /getting one.

I bought this NON Fender Jazz neck off Ebay for a planned Duck Dunn tribute BitsaBass, which never got off the ground so I am now moving this neck on. The neck has a vintage satin finish with a Fender P Bass decal, custom shop decal on the rear and a Duck Dunn signature. The decals have been over-sprayed with what appears to be a poly satin finish. Very slim 21 fret neck with virtually no fret wear. 38.5mm nut width and 63.5mm heel width. The neck will be shipped in the Fender carton & packaging I recieved my genuine MIM Fender Jazz neck that replaced this neck. Postage at buyers cost. Thanks for looking

I would be interested in a Rumble Stage 800 head. Coupled to my Barefaced Super Compact it may offer a simpler setup than my pedal board +Mesa Subway D800 for the function band I'm in. The preset switching on offer through the single footswitch may satisfy my needs. Let's hope the head is at a reasonable price point.
