1. HI All, For Sale is a dark Red P Bass body purchased from Tom1946 earlier this year. The plan was to build a 'Duck' Dunn tribute P bass with a Jazz neck. However, just after buying the red body up pops a Sonic Blue P bass body which ended up as the one I used. I am looking for the same as I paid Tom so £35 delivered to the UK. Here are the pics of the Red Body.
2. +1 for the Thumpinator. Essential bit of kit if your amp has no built-in HPF. My Mesa Subway D800 has it built-in but my Fender Rumble 500 head does not and it's worth every penny to clean up and control the bottom end and improve the efficiency of your speaker cab.
3. As said already it's a players bass the mods mean you can enjoy playing a vintage bass without worrying that you are not going to ding it and lose any value. You're not going loose any money at all on the purchase but it's not going to appreciate like an all stock bass. I've got the exact same bass that's all totally stock with the crackling volume and tone knobs and the obligatory crack in the pickguard between the end of the neck and the pickup. It's got a huge sound, looks handsome but has a thick neck. Go for it! You'll love it!
4. Last Saturday played a wedding and had to use the feature band's backline of Aguilar TH500 into Barefaced G3 Super Compact. Really disappointed with tone and output with the rig while using my Fender P with DiMarzio Split P Pup.Volume was really poor overload light flashing even with Gain and Drive at zero (7 o clock) a really distorted sound when pushing the amp for more output to compete with drummer and 3 guitarists . If I knew what to expect I would have used my Mesa Subway D800 or my Fender Rumble 500 into my trusty Barefaced G3 Super Compact, both amps blow the TH 500 totally away. Always able to get my preferred tone with either the Mesa or the Rumble. The feature band's bassist was also the sound guy who appeared to use the TH 500 as on stage monitor with a great deal of DI PA support. Stand alone the Aguilar just didn't have what it takes and appeared to be a 'bit of a wimp ' Anyone else suffered a similar experience?
5. Hi Stevie, Please add me to the list of flat pack cabs. Please include me for the powder coated steel fronts and accessories. Cheers John
6. I have a TC Helicon Voicelive play. Very simple to use with over 500 downloadable patches. Helps with realtime pitch correction and simple on/off control. Very slick piece of kit.
7. +1 for the TC Spectracomp, simple one 'Knoob' control. BUT I would add a Micro Thumpinator. Following advice from Phil Starr the Thumpinator really cleaned up my Fender Rumble 500 boomy bottom end and the Spectracomp provides extra control of the overall sound.
8. Great job Tom Looks fantastic. I'm a big fan of DiMarzio Pups and KiOgon looms. Enjoy!!
9. Fantastic, handsome looking with elegant simplicity. Job well done. Enjoy your new baby.

12.
Okay, just ordered a Tonerider and it'll be here in the morning so I'll give it a go and report back. cheers all.
Hi Tom how do the Toneriders sound? Could you do a short review?
13. Hi Tom, My preference is the DiMarzio Split P with KiOgon loom and Sprague 192p 0.1uF capacitor. Warm & lush with plenty of power and old school tones.
14. Try the Kmise necks from Amazon. Great value for £30. They are really slim profiles and I believe they have some sort of metal reinforcement. Can't really go wrong for that sort of money. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quality-Maple-Fender-Bass-JAZZ-replacement/dp/B00SSY4MNQ/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1501835353&sr=8-12-spons&keywords=Kmise+jazz+bass+neck&psc=1
15. Back in 1971 H-H also sold a great 2x15 bass cab with a clip-on front panel to protect the speakers. Best rig I had in the early 70's was a H-H VS 100 Bass amp and TWO S100 slave amps driving a Marshall 1x18 sound bouncer and TWO Hiwatt 4x12 cabs fitted with Goodmans 50 watt 12 ins speakers. Sounded great doing Deep Purple & Sabbeth covers. I've grown up now and use two Barefaced super Compacts and Mesa Subway D800.
