But to answer your question, Rikki, no, not a Thunderbird-style. And now I shall fade back into the ether...
Whoops, maybe I'm thinking of the work you did on the Mockingbird. Either way, it's all a great read!

Didn't Andy build a Thunderbird-style bass? I've been trying to find it, his builds are fascinating and I love the TB shape!
wife was a little surprised as I said I was only going to have a look...
"Going for a look" in our design studio has become the byword for "definitely going to buy", haha! Those are both stunners, I especially love the cream/tortoise-shell combo! Dying to get a tort pickguard for my VM 70's Jazz, phwoaaar... I've heard fantastic things about the whole CV series, she's a beauty too!

Do what the missus says, or she'll have you sell the whole thing!

I bought a pedal from Will back in December 2015. It arrived quickly and safely, well packaged with the original box and in even better condition than I expected! Will was really helpful when I had a minor hiccup with the pedal, with quick and friendly communication throughout. I should have found the time to post feedback ages ago and would definitely deal with him again any time! Cheers! Rik

Phwoar, very nice! I have the same model but in Olympic white. Can I ask where you got the case? Mine doesn't quite in my old hardcase unless I squeeze the padding a bit!
In a curve ball move I'm now considering a 2014 squire vintage modified jazz bass which has come up near me. I played a jazz bass and liked the neck of that.
Excellent choice! I have a 70's VM Jazz and absolutely love it. Neck is so playable, best I've ever owned! Now for the important stuff: show us some pictures!

When the temperature is so low that glue / filler / paint / lacquer take ages to go off, does that have any adverse effect? I've never experienced it with my own woodworking, but always wondered if you'd start to see any kind of bubbling or get strange textures etc. Looking forward to seeing the colour you've gone with! I've had been tempted to turn that body into kindling with that big crack so it's cool to see it get a new lease of life! Edited: I hit 'Save' too soon

Ditch the case if it reeks. You'd be gutted if you got the stink off the bass and then stuffed it in the case and accidentally reapplied the odour!
-
Excellent choice! I have a pair of HD201's as well which I use for general listening as well as well as practising (and Rocksmith). Would replace them in a heartbeat if they broke.

This has looked cool right the way through, but seeing that the blue dye is only on the top (along with that cream binding) makes this look really special!

Not bass related, but I grabbed a hardback Legend of Zelda notebook and an ever-increasing number of games in the Steam sale!
I watched a video of a guy with a Telecaster from aliexpress and there were many things he didn't like... but mostly they were cosmetic issues.
Was this a YouTube account by the name of Sonicwingnut? If so I saw the same videos, it's amazing how much an Aliexpress guitar can be turned around with a bit of imagination and elbow grease! I'm looking forward to seeing what you get, what state it's in and how you improve it!

Out of interest, where do you plan on sourcing your timber? Do you order online? I've been tinkering with woodworking (very amateur) this past year and it seems I either need to settle for the garbage on display at Wicks or B&Q, or order in bulk - like, house-building bulk! Looking forward to seeing this, especially with the light-dark wood sandwich!
-
Phwoar, that's a bit of alright! I've always loved the Thunderbird shape but I've been told by a few people that they're not especially versatile (not that it would matter for my playing!). It looks like that's certainly not the case with the modifications you've made! And that neck... Would love to see some nice high-res images of this beast!

This is beautiful, I don't think I've seen an Arpege or a Passion before until now! Both lovely, and different to anything I've personally seen before. The bridge on the Arpege is awesome, looks like you could tow a ship with it!

For some reason the sight of that gaffer tape on the fretboard makes me cringe It's so strong it'll pull the neck in two haha This is looking really cool, especially with the matching headstock! Someday I'll get a cheapo banger off t'eBay and have a go at this myself, I love the glittersparkle finish so far! -
That's very cool, a really good find especially if it's been lingering on t'eBay for a while! Never seen a Peavey like this before, it's begging to have some Mötley Crüe or Kiss played

Incredible work from the Alpher guys as always, it's amazing to have someone producing such amazing stuff so close by! Makes it all the more tempting and dangerous... You must be so stoked to own this, I'll bet it was a great birthday present when you finally got your mitts on it!

Give us the pictures!

I was very interested in these when I was looking for a new bass a while ago, great to see them getting a positive reaction - and becoming available with new options and colours! I ended up going for something else in the end while testing some things out in a shop, so hopefully soon we'll see these stocked in brick n' mortar shops where people can have a noodle! Keep up the ace work Jow, can't wait to one day try one of these!

Hobbyist here! Even as a teen I wasn't interested in being a big, famous rock-star - playing in a practise room with friends is enough for me!

Yet another fantastic build / resto diary, I really love reading these. Thanks for giving us so much insight into your process, it's really great to see - especially the ways you've tackled some of the unique challenges on this one!
I've often considered blogging about what it takes and took to get Chowny off the ground. But then I think I'd be the only one interested in reading it.
I'd also definitely be interested in hearing about this! Whether it's a one-off blog about what you went through, or a whole series about every aspect of creating your products, I think it'd be fascinating! This thread is the first I've heard of Scott and the SWB-1, but I'll definitely be watching now. These are beautiful basses!
