Need a bit more help on this due to being an absolute doofus. I wanted to swap out the wires for cloth covered ones (just to match my harness). But being a amateur of epic propertions i forgot to not which hook up wire does what. However, i do know that when i got them they were NOT wired as above. Putting the pups down with the bottoms up from left to right they seemed to be wired :

wire to other pup
Earth
wire to other pup
Hot.

Pics on the web seem to differ:- http://www.seymourdu...matic=std_pbass for example. Is there anyway of looking at the coils or anything to see which eyelet should connect to which hook up wire?

From what I can gather they are wired the same as in that seymour duncan pic, it doesn't really matter which way round the wires are as the two pickups are in phase - you'll be able to tell if they're not right because the output will be very thin sounding, if this is the case just swap the wires on one half around :) Hope that makes sense!

Ahhh ok, thanks!

I'm from an electrical/electronic engineering backgroud and am starting to dabble with pedal design.. while I have a solid understanding of what adding capacitors et al do from a circuit analysis POV, I have no idea what audible effects they have!

If you could get the cap. and res. values / schematic that'd be much appreciated, otherwise I'll just start playing around :)

Cheers!

I've got an excel file I can send you with a couple of things I've tried before - flat EQ and a few mid boosts at different frequencies. PM me your email address if you're interested

This.
Fingerboard treatments are basically just another way for manufacturers to get people with more money than sense to part with even more of it. People are verging on OCD about stuff like this these days.

Download the "Tone Stack Calculator" from Duncan amps - you can change the values of the components and it'll show you the freq. response graphically
