1. I like smaller bodied basses, 4 strings only. I think the Jazz body is way too big, can just about get on with a Precision - although it's more the sound keeping it in the running Oh yeah, it absolutely must have 4 in a line tuners
2. Who is Stanley Clarke?
3. La Bella on the Pedulla and EB Super Slinkies on the Precision. Always 45 65 80 100.
4. Take a look at: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=98407
5. I smashed him into the ground like a blonde tent peg!
6.
I've got two brand new 125 guage Elites stadium (stainless steel) B strings... I don't use 125's anymore so does anyone else want them? Free to anyone who can pick them up from North West London. Jimmy Sims
If I send you the money can you post them?
7. Stringbusters stock a few 5 string sets with a high C, and also rotosound singles.
8. You can't tune a low B 5 string set up to EADGC, you will need to get a set with a high C (usually .020 to .030 gauge) instead. IIRC the high C is slightly tighter than the low B, so you may need a little tweak on the the set up.
9. Hi, what are the dimensions of the cabs?
10.
I'm still not sure that Prodigy have a bass player but that's just me being pedantic.
I was 99% sure they do, so I did a bit of digging: Linked from here: http://www.theprodigy.com/photos/category/40 I wasn't slamming you earlier, my post didn't come across how I intended, sorry.
11.
... As I say "educate me."
It was a joke, chill out. I meant he is a multi-instrumentalist in general, not just playing for the Prodigy. Playing guitar, bass, piano, drums as well as vocal duties (just so I'm clear, not all at the same time) in groups (again, so I'm perfectly clear, not all the above instruments for each group) such as: Nirvana Foo Fighters Them Crooked Vultures Probot Tom Petty Killing Joke Tenacious D Nine Inch Nails QOTSA
12.
What have I missed? Educate me. According to Wikipedia - Grohl played drums on the tracks 'Run With The Wolves' and 'Stand Up' on The Prodigy's 2009 album Invaders Must Die.
Missed Dave Grohls abilities as a totally awesome multi-instrumentalist
13.
Isn't Dave Grohl a drumer?
GTFO edit: forgot the joking smily
14.
what more do you need to know?? and im not! it even says in the opening post 'made by myself a couple of years ago'
Then why is the thread still titled "Fender Precision"? This is not made from any Fender parts at all
15. At the end of the day it comes down to moving air, and feeling the bass rather than hearing it. 18's and 21's move loads more air than 10's, simple. The guy is an idiot for using big subs?! Every sound engineer on the planet must be an idiot then I think TS and many subsequent posters are missing the difference between BASS and BASS GUITAR.
16. Even if they are conservatively rated, we are routinely told watts=/=volume. So even a 10% power advantage would not mean you gain much in volume. Obviously, the reason they are so loud is the green colour scheme
17. Generic cheapo needle files off ebay do the trick easy, useful for cleaning up bridge saddles as well.
18.
I'm actually getting 1000 euro trade in with my cabs which is more than I was selling them for privately. The 2 cabs combined were 1128 euro brand new.
Can't complain about that.
19. You can not connect two heads to one cabinet at the same time if that's what you are asking. You can however use the combo speakers by disconnecting the speaker lead from the back of the MAG head and connecting into the Little Giant (while they are both switched off obviously)
20. Crystal Castles, and trying to find someone to come with me to see them in Liverpool
21.
Totally flawed, as drivers should never be horizontally arrayed. The intent is to widen the coverage, the result is to narrow it.
Unless you stand it vertically
22. Before you spend £50 on a MB one, you could throw one together for about a fiver to see if you like it.
23.
SHAZAM! Wish I'd tuned the bass first, though...
Assuming the same EQ and amp through each (otherwise what's the point ) The first two sound much more trebly, more rounded, brighter - exactly what you'd expect from 10's and 12's. The Vintage sounds very muffled in comparison (even against the Fender). It might be loud but if it sounds like that, no thanks. Not nice to my ears. Lacking brightness, exactly like a typical 15.
24. I normally clean/drill the hole out, bit of wood glue, hammer some tight-fitting dowel in and redrill.
