I found it had very clear hifi sound solo'd but was completely lost in a band setting and definitely seemed to reduce the overall volume...
  2.
Did you point out to him that the body couldn't be from 1959? Hope you didn't - I'd far sooner see him try & justify this load of rubbish! J.
No, that's the only message I've sent.
  3. I asked if he had pictures of any date stamps. Reply:
The neck is serial number S7 35688. When the neck was replaced the old square 1959 plate was replaced by the new sheild type, but you can still see the outline of the old 1959 square plate with the raised top lip. Regards, Geoff
4. The Toadworks Mr Squishy is based on it and IMO is a very good compressor.
  5.
Ya I have been tempted to fit a new s/p but then thought that the look is a bit busy already so I've held off, however a mint colour might work well too
Black would look good and fit in with the decal too
  6. Just measured the boot of my car, no chance sorry
  7.
I'm no psychic, but I'm guessing we're gonna see a fair amount of 'Ashdown' here.... I'll start. Ashdown MAG 600H. Lasted ONE rehearsal.
MAG 600 also, f***ed output upon arrival. This was when they had trouble with China QC. Can I ask what happened to yours? I've had no problems except general wear and tear with the ABM gear though but that counts for nothing to those on the bandwagon

  12.
Why should problems arise if you remove all of the strings at once? I do this and have done for the last 30 years with not a single issue... in fact most everyone (inc' reputed builders/luthiers) I know does it that way; it's the only way I know that you can give the fingerboard a clean whilst doing regular services/string changes. Even though your string gauges are very similar, there 'is' a difference in string tension which can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, this will have caused your set-up change. I would summise that the fact you say that your neck/fingerboard is flat means that you have very little relief in it so the smallest change in tension will require a tweak of the truss rod to get the action sorted and buzz free.
+1

  18.
Maybe the word valid was inappropriate - I should have said 'stood the test of time'. You don't see many of the other guy's basses on E-bay
True, who knows what we might be playing now if his ideas had taken off
  19.
No I don't believe Paul Tutmarc designed the first electric bass guitar that is still valid today - that's what I meant.
So a guitar that looks roughly like a modern bass with a solid body, four strings, 42 inch overall length and an electric pickup with output to an amplifier is not valid today? It's essentially a modern short-scale bass Not disputing Fender was the first to mass produce the electric bass but he certainly did not design the first.
  20.
Clarence Leo Fender - born 10/8/1909. Even non-Fender lovers must acknowledge whatever they like today can only have been designed FROM something Leo created. Somebody had to be first.
Paul Tutmarc in fact Never the less happy birthday Mr. Fender

    Boss ODB-3

You can get very close to that sound yes, but as has been said only with bright new strings. Turning the blend down to mix in more dry signal solves the fizz/fuzz
